Why? Thought that was a nice touch. I thought they sounded great, and I liked Casablanca's schtick, thought he was funny and also sounded great, but I know he can be pretty erratic.

I agree. They could have used a bit more volume early in the set but I have no real complaints. Julian's humour goes straight over the heads of some people, he doesn't need help, he's just having fun. Some of those Twitter people definitely need an intervention though.

As for the girl getting on stage, it only happened because the crowd were cheering for it when she held her sign up. Julian was reluctant at first. I didn't begrudge her 5 minutes of fame.

I heard a couple of people complaining because 'Last Nite' wasn't played. I didn't miss it, I prefer 'The Modern Age' and 'Hard To Explain' from the first album.

A delayed train meant I arrived 2 hours later than planned so I was going through the gate as Wet Leg were playing Chaise Longue. I've seen them 3 times in small venues in the last 10 months so I wasn't too bothered.

I boycotted the bars. Sainsbury's gained what the festival lost. I ended the night in Blackpool Bootleg Social, £3.50 a pint!

Im quite a fan of the little urinal behind the cider bus that turns your wee into electricity. Not just because of what it does, but it’s mostly been empty when I’ve visited.

That used to be the place I mostly used too but it's gone now. 3000 more tickets sold this year but no extra toilet provision.

Making the urinals double-up to use each side of the fencing would be a big help to stop pollution. The guys on the outside of the fence are not worried about being seen.

Very few regrets this year. Kids are older so no buggy, more mobile.

Missing "Oxide Ghosts" in the Cinema was a slight bummer. Wonder was there there a big turnout for it...

There was a big audience for Oxide Ghosts. I got there 20 minutes early and it wasn't long before the queue almost reached the acoustic tent. You would still have got in but I don't think I've seen so many in the cinema before.

I've seen OG 3 times now. It's essential viewing for Morris fans.

My regrets? I never made it to the Avalon stage. I couldn't summon the energy to trek up to the Park for Cate Le Bon and Caroline Polachek. I forgot to visit the Pier.

Apart from that it was all good. 🙂

  5. I'm looking forwards to Lytham, I only found out yesterday that Wet Leg and The Lounge Society have been added.

A word of warning about bar prices, they're charging £6.50 for a pint of weak Carlsberg and £6.80 for cider.

  6. Last night I just booked a ticket to travel on Thursday 23rd, thinking strikes were being put off for a while.

For anyone in the same position this is from Transpennine Express:

"If you are unable to complete your planned journey or choose not to travel due to industrial action, your ticket will be valid for travel on the preceding or following day."

THANKFULLY, I got through to someone on the official email who said they'd arranged for me to pick up my tickets from the ticket office at the festival itself, so at least I can relax now. Thank you for the good luck too, appreciate it 😅🙏👍

I had exactly the same problem with them for The Warehouse Project, I never got a print option. It was resolved at the ticket office on the night of the gig, you shouldn't have any more trouble now. They will henceforth be known as Ticketbastard for all their unnecessary hassle.

I got my Latitude ticket from UEA Students Union this time. A much better experience and cheaper postage if they were being mailed.

    Time to start packing! 😎

Quick logistics question - how long does the shuttle bus from Diss take? And have they been fairly frequent in previous years?

It takes an hour and if you just miss one it's another hour to wait for the next one.

    Timetable and booking here

This will be my 6th Latitude, my last one was in 2015. I'm going by the Halesworth route this time, arriving Thursday night.

My main concern is going back on Monday morning. They don't have any shuttles listed and I'm wondering how busy the taxi rank gets. My train tickets are only valid for specific trains.

Weatherall tribute show on 6 now with Tom Robinson

This was an excellent tribute, it had me turning the volume up from the start. I'll play this a few times over the next 4 weeks.

  10. I had a couple of good gigs last week. Joe Gideon, Jim Sclavunos & Gris-De-Lin + Henry Parker at the Brudenell. They decided to make it a free gig so tickets were refunded, I spent it on merch.

I also saw mclusky + Bilge Pump at Huddersfield Parish.

Coming up: March 5th, Sex Pistols: The End is Near - Kevin Cummins in conversation with John Robb at Manchester International Anthony Burgess Foundation. I was at the Huddersfield Ivanhoes gig and I remember KC with his camera.

6th Altered Images at Holmfirth Picturedrome

11th Sink Ya Teeth at Leeds Headrow House

21st The Jesus and Mary Chain at Manchester Albert Hall

On the Psychic TV 'Themes' 1982 album it starts with a looped sound of what I took to be some kind of jungle animal. Years later I discovered it's the weird  high pitched chuckle of Jim Jones.

I thought I'd got this wrong after I'd signed off. It had me digging out my PTV albums. The looped Jones sample kicks off side 2 of Themes 2 recorded in 1984.

Back on the tv topic, tonight's viewing: Homeland

Monday is telly night. Westworld, The Walking Dead, Inside No 9, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver.

Thanks for the link. I know the Jim Jones story well and this had me transfixed. The recordings of him are quite harrowing.

I've seen the BBC and other documentaries about him. A real horror story about what people can get away with under the guise of religion.

    Peaness

I spoke to them in Leeds a couple of weeks ago. They said no Glastonbury this year but hoping for next.

The best new band I've seen for years is Ist Ist. They would be great for Williams Green or John Peel. Their debut album ‘Architecture’ is out on 1st May.

I'm hoping for Girl Band on the Peel stage too.

My husband just showed me a clip of Naked attraction. On mainstream telly.

    :o:o:o

"What do you think of the willy? Have a good look" is the kind of quote people might have expected on C4 years ago. They know that nudity gets the viewing figures up whatever the context. I thought these shows were generally funnier than most of the stuff masquerading as comedy these days.

I saw the series finale of Shades Of Blue this week, it's been one of the best new shows I've seen this year. Ray Liotta and Jennifer Lopez made this 'one to watch'.

  15. Gig activity has started to pick up again. Next I've got :

Black Honey + Dream Wife, at Leeds Belgrave Music Hall 12th October

The Duke Spirit + Joe Gideon, at Leeds Brudenell 13th October

Goat + Hookworms + Jane Weaver + Mugstar + Josefin Ohrn and The Liberation + Andy Votel dj at Manchester Albert Hall 22nd October
  16. I just booked one ticket using firefox on pc with one tab. I got through at 9:15 after a lot of F5 pressing. Sorry I couldn't book for anyone else, it wasn't my own debit card I paid with. Good luck in the resales to those who missed out.

I thought they had changed it this year? I'm sure you can use a credit card now.   edit... you can, here it is

I hadn't heard this, thanks for the info. You get a 'like' from me!

I have just managed to book my ticket using my mothers debit card, I'll be able to use my own credit card in future.

  18. This was my 11th  Glastonbury and having missed the previous 2 years it was just good to be back again. It's a bit frustrating when the mud makes you have to miss out so much but it was nowhere near as bad as 2007. I was surprised that Michael said this year was the worst the mud has ever been, I guess he'd say '07 was a year of lakes rather than mud!

I never attempted to go to the SE corner and haven't done since 2010. I much preferred Lost Vagueness to Shangri La. I can do without Silver Hayes too, I have to go through it to get to the campsite. I thought the John Peel stage was much better placed in it's new location.

I will be trying for a ticket again next year but I think I'll be going alone (not for the first time). If you miss next year's festival there will not be another one until 2019. It doesn't bear thinking about.
