  1. Darble felt clean throughout. The last time I went was 2017 and even Pyramid felt so much cleaner! No standing on cans or food containers constantly - very impressed with the clean up job at other each day too. Still some way to go of course, but huge improvements since 2017.

This is behaviour you forego when you're match-fit Glasto wise.

There's always somewhere / something just round the corner with less of a queue.

This is perhaps the key - having a bit more knowledge of the festival probably helped. You would never find me queuing for a toilet in the morning - I have a pee bottle in the tent and then walk out of the campsite and into the festival for about 9.30/10 and use the empty toilets there.

Same for packed out sets - I knew it would be rammed for Sugababes in a tent so arrived 2 songs before the end of Nick Mulvey and was near the front.

It felt busy but with a bit of planning and organisation, it could be managed.

Don't buy that there were 20k unaccounted for festival-goers.

Some of the crowd behaviour I saw this year was utterly bizarre. Loads of times I saw massive queues for certain vendors, and then right next door would be barely any queue for another one. And this was for bog-standard food stalls - nothing to write home about.  Saw similar thing with toilets and longdrops, queues at bars etc.

The compost toilet vs long drop thing was just weird. First time in 5 Glastonburys that I've noticed there being a long queue for compost and zero queue for long drops which were next to each other...especially on campsites. What was that about? I didn't think the long drops looked or smelt worse than the composts really?

  4. It was rammo, wasn't it?

I think it was probably a combination of everything...definitely some poor scheduling decisions made, probably a fair few sneaky entries.

I wonder if the festival will speak out about the concerns given that it is on everyone's lips? Or perhaps measures will be added for next year.

I had a brilliant festival and probably would of tolerated double the crowds that developed just to be there but it did feel extremely busy everywhere.

  5. Used cash throughout...which I was pleased with as that was my plan. I like having a certain amount everyday and stops me spending tons and tons once drunk.

Only place I needed card was the Vegan Vice place and that was only on the Wednesday as I was their first customer and they didn't have change.

  6. Saturday I would have tried to lay in longer and deal with my hangover rather than miserably powering on through with a grumpy face on until about 3pm. I should have seen Self Esteem and Joy Crookes but I was too fed up.

  7. I'm not sure where to start. From the moment I set foot on that grass, everyone seems happier, friendlier, kinder...and I can feel it in myself too. I have had some amazing moments over the years with people I never caught the name of. It's how I wish real life was!

There is so much to see and do that it truly takes you away from life on the outside. I don't think about work or worries from over the fence. You can't even get a signal on your phone so I leave the other world behind. Its a rare opportunity to really cut off from things.

I'm not saying it is easy. The sheer exhaustion of being on that high for almost a week has left me physically and emotionally in tatters. I don't come back feeling refreshed. But it is always worth it.

But every time a woman goes to the toilet it’s longer whereas for men it’s only certain visits 😂

I try and have a little tidy up in there if I'm honest! I usually use a few tissues to clean the seat as I don't like to hover...if you head in after me, it'll be worth the wait!

I did both of these - I think I discovered them here!

My main tip is to take a pair of Merrell trainers - I got these and they're a god send. https://www.merrell.com/UK/en_GB/alpine-sneaker/044213227168.html?istCompanyId=535f0b58-4f84-4415-ace8-9f61fb1a7e74&istFeedId=44e6cfa1-83d0-49ff-b3ef-c9e12baa191c&istItemId=iqaimqtaq&istBid=t&cid=PPC-MERR-UK--_&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI6bPAu-zS-AIVUaHVCh3eyQGTEAkYBiABEgL-kfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds They're water resistant (only tested when I walked through the long, dewey grass in the morning, but still) and super comfy. I wore them all five days and my feet are absolutely fine, even after treading on those massive stones and shards of wood - it's also the first year I didn't come back with the annoying Glastonbury Toe!

Also, self-inflating mattresses piss all over air beds. My body has also felt MUCH better afterwards the two previous times I've used mine.

Neither are cheap, but if you can get them sometime ahead of next year you won't regret it.

Hard agree on self inflating mattress. We usually take a double camp bed and whilst I thought that was God tier compared to air beds, it has nothing on our new bergaus self inflating mattress. We brought a sheet, pillows and proper duvet and it was the perfect bed for the night.

Amazing place and experience. Despite arriving Tuesday, there are areas that I simply didn't get to. I can see why people go back and back just to experience the things they missed last time. Not enough time to do everything that is on offer! If you suffer from FOMO, this festival is a nightmare!

So friendly, even when the crowds became dangerous a few times, everybody seemed to keep their cool when in other places, heads would have been falling off.

Only managed about 3 full sets but that is partly my fault as if it was busy at a stage, I wont push forwards and I just cant enjoy a set if I cant see it properly or hear it properly. That leads me to a negative, many acts were in very small venues for their popularity. I think I know why that was but still it was gutting not to be able to see someone you had hoped as you just couldnt get near. I think if you have your heart set on somebody, you need to eat, drink, use the toilet and aim to get there at least an hour before they start. That could therefore mean that with travelling time, you need to be thinking about that set up to 2 hours before! Crazy.

I have to say, I was a little disappointed in the sound quality/volume from the stages compared to say at Rock Werchter. I may have been standing in the wrong places. I brought ear defenders for our 5yr old but didn't need them once despite being close sometimes.

Need to change from O2 to EE as had no signal or data pretty much the whole time.

Cash is better than card. Most traders preferred cash as their wifi devices went down most of the time!

I wasnt prepared for the big rocks and sharp stones eve'rywhere I walked either! Defo walking boots next time.

Final thought? Biggest, busiest but most importantly, best festival I have ever been to.

I have been 5 times and still have areas that I have never managed to get to (Strummerville...even though I promised I would go this year! Cinemargeddon is another one...never been to the crows nest, piano bar or rabbit hole).

Erm ... no. Possibly misled you there. It’s nice and quiet though.

Quieter perhaps but as a seasoned Darble camper the noise from somewhere that went on until 6am was very loud this year! I could hear every word. Nothing some ear plugs didn't fix mind!

I know there was a thread for this kind of thing back in 2019 that runs to 40+ pages, but did anyone discover any new tricks this year for making life at Glastonbury a little bit easier?

I've been going for 25 years but only this year did I find that beer cans fit perfectly on the hooks that lock long-drop doors. Obviously it would be better not to take your drink into the bogs at all, but when you have no choice this certainly beats putting it on the floor or on the ledge next to the toilet seat 🤢

Stick the latch through your backpack straps too to hold up your bag!

My top one is always to freeze capri sun's and bottles of water the night before and stick in a cool bag for the queue. Keeps you hydrated and comfortable in the heat and you can make friends by handing them out to people suffering in the heat around you too!

I volunteered with Oxfam, remember I'm just one voice and a lot of people love volunteering so don't just take my word for it.

The three eight hour shifts were fine, but trying to plan a festival around them was definitely not. I had Saturday night off so went to see Macca, walked back and got to sleep around 1am (I had to miss any late night stuff for my 5.45am shift) I got three hours of sleep to do the hour walk through the Oxford to my gate. Only to get there to be told the bus I was told wasn't coming actually did come.

Planning sleep and food around the shifts is really difficult.

I had two supervisors who didn't have a clue, one told me not to give our chairs to security. I did what he asked and then got some really nasty personal verbal abuse from the security guard. Told my supervisor and he did nothing.

The other said as it was freezing cold we'd rotate shifts so I wouldn't be outside for too long, ended up waiting five hours in the freezing cold despite reminding him several times we'd been out there.

Sorry, just caught this. Sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience.

  17. Not so much a word for word conversation but I overheard a steward talking to someone about a live tortoise being handed into one of the gates that she was on duty at and what they might do about this situation!

  18. Gate A queue on Wednesday was horrific. Arrived at 8.20am - took 4.5 hours to get in. The queue would move for 10 mins and then security would stop anyone going through for half an hour. Rinse, repeat. And in the boiling heat. It was a tough one. I brought frozen bottles of water as I knew it would be hot - two lads offered me £20 each for one (I obviously didn't charge them) and ended up sharing with a girl looking like she was going to collapse too. No cans of water avaliable in the queue either. A shambles.

I was in the TLC crush but it moved and we got there. Never seen something like that in West Holts though - it was more akin to when a Pyramid headliner ends.

Sugababes I planned ahead knowing it was in a tent and I would be unlikely to see it if I wasn't early. Went and got a kebab in avalon and arrived to watch Nick Mulveys last song - managed to get near the front on the right hand side. All good. I think perhaps that will be my strategy for things I really want to see in future as it certainly felt busier.

I didn't find toilet/ food queues too awful. I never use cider bus toilets as inevitably they are usually busy. I was in SE corner Friday night/Saturday morning and not an issue. The ones between WH and other were busy but no more than 5 or 6 people deep.

  19. Which special guests did acts bring out on stage? Who did I miss?

Blossoms and Mel C - set the party off!

Paul McCartney with Grohl and Springsteen, so much fun and felt quite emotional.

Olivia Rodrigo and Lily Allen - awesome to see everyone in the crowd loudly singing Fuck you!
