  1. Totally disagree. If T takes a year out it will be finished as a festival. I agree though that reducing the size and capacity for a few years can work. Let's make the whole site as compact as possible some of the walks this year from tent to stages was horrible. My legs are a still aching and I'm a fit 20 something that plays football 3 times a week.

T is more than capable of taking a year out and coming back just as strong as before.

  2. Another thing that bothered me was the fact that at least in our campsite, red 2, they hadn't even bothered to cut the grass. Putting up a tent in wet knee high grass wasn't exactly fun, grass was always cut short at Balado.

  3. Would echo the comment on the supermarket. Thought it was great and had everything you could really need and reasonably priced.

Refresh also seemed to be a lot smoother this year and I seen less ques although I only went for a posh hangover dump and didn't use any of the other facilities.

  4. You were probabbly home before people found there campsite mate,it was a shambles.

And Al say again what so called top festival does everything shut down so early,at least in balado you had Palm and the silent disco.

Did you not think the sound from the stages was shite?even slam?

I still had a good time cocktail cocktail was brilliant, tenents arms was...MEH.

I honestly can't see people especially campers going anywhere near strathallan next year.

It just seemed like a big fairground with a couple of stages slapped in the middle.

It took me over two hours to find my campsite on the Friday night. Every steward I asked had no idea either, I must have lapped the campsite twice at least looking for Red 2. The campsite was a complete maze, poorly lit, and the cartoon map was in no way close to representative of where things were.

  5. I've got to agree that the roads can't be sorted. I drive every year to Balado and got the bus to strathallan this year via a mini bus hire. Our driver said he wouldn't be taking hires next year because of it.

Short of building a new road I've no idea how they can solve it. As someone said above our bus literally went through a dirt track in a farm to get to the site. Nearly all the roads are single track, they simply cannot cope. On the way home on Monday a coach got stuck in a ditch on one of the single track roads and we had to walk for miles down the traffic que to get to our bus where the driver had been stuck for hours.

On top of the traffic the arena needs sorted out because it just isn't big enough just now, I don't know what scope they have to extend it or whatever but it needs to be bigger.

Despite all this I still enjoyed myself and had a great weekend but I'll definetly be thinking hard about going next year.

  6. I honestly think they should take a year out next year. Would show that they've taken notice of all the negatives that happened and would mean they'd have a lot of time to get their shit sorted. 2 years should be long enough to prove to the fans and the council that they can in fact plan and organise a safe and secure festival with a good lineup. I've heard more people say they wouldn't return next year if it's at Strathallan than folk who would attend, so the ticket sales (if it were to go ahead) would be diabolical.

They need to downsize a bit, maybe take it down to 60,000 capacity and take a good look at stage setups and lineup placements. Also there are too many pointless fairground rides in the arena, that shitey Ghost Train took up a lot space which could've been used for more space to move about. Too many times there were people caught in a crush going back and forth from stages, and I think it's ridiculous having an alternating dance act then rock act then dance act again (e.g Afrojack > War on Drugs > David Guetta) as it means the sound guys have to keep changing the way the sound is (it constantly sounded shit at most stages), and the people who like the EDM DJs will have to keep going and coming back causing more crushes. If they just had a dedicated stage for that kind of music on a certain day then that would solve that problem. Maybe one day Radio 1 stage could be used for EDM/Electronic acts (that don't fit the Slam Tent) and King Tuts could be band orientated, then the next day switch the stages around or something.

There was also fuck all to do after the music finished. Last year we had the Slam Tent open a bit longer and the Palm Stage and some Silent Disco's etc. but absolutely nothing this year, that just caused large amounts of traffic coming out of the arena due to the tight as fuck walkway. That bottleneck area just came to a complete halt for way too long each night which caused people to get pissed off and rip barriers down, charge up the hill and was pretty dangerous for the people involved.

They also need to get their lineup out a lot sooner as people no longer trust T to book it in advance before any acts have been announced. At least 1/4 of the lineup before Xmas would give people an idea of what it'd be like and would potentially get more ticket sales in for the Xmas period. Drip feeding us announcements starting at the end of Feb is not the way to do it, especially after this year, as they will be looking at festivals elsewhere who will have most of their lineups out by that point.

If they took a year out then it would also give them time to figure out how to get around the bus/parking situation. Someone mentioned using the park & rides just outside of the area and use those as a point for dropping off, which could then use shuttle buses to get to and from the festival. If they do go ahead next year, they'll have to get it absolutely spot on or else the festival will most likely be finished after that. Taking time out would probably be taken in a positive way from most people, and could potentially save the festival from dying out. It's too big to go down the path of RockNess, so hopefully the fact they haven't mentioned anything about tickets for next year means they have decided to do the right thing and take a long hard look about what the next steps for T are.

Can't really disagree with any of that. A year out really would be the best thing for the festival right now I think.

  7. Has anyone seen anything about tickets? Usually out today are they not.

Not seen anything and usually they are advertising it pretty hard about now.

Despite the brave face they have been putting on about the problems I reckon they will be thinking long and hard about wether or not it can go ahead at strathallan again.

  8. Neil, whilst you're on this thread, do you know if DFS lost any high up staff? Or if the plans had to get changed last minute due to the ospreys?

Just T in the Park (whilst it has it's flaws) has been pretty well organised the previous times I've been, but this time it felt like they'd made a lot of school boy errors. I know its a new site but it almost felt like this was the first festival they'd ever organised and they'd completely under estimated what was required.

The arena layout had to be changed because of the Ospreys. The pinch point at cocktail cocktail was a result of the exclusion zone they had to set up for the birds, there was a rather large area behind the cocktail bar that couldn't be used but it was originally intended to be.

  9. I had a great weekend. No bother getting up on Friday or back home this morning. Used Citylink. Clearly the situation for daytrippers is unacceptable tough.

We camped in Red, plenty space so again happy with that. We did get our tents dipped while we slept though. I sleep with my jeans on and wallet in the pockets so I was fine. Slept on my own and woke up to find my tent wide open. My fiancée was sharing with her friend and had her bag taken from inside their sleeping compartment. Luckily we found it ditched close by so managed to get her phone and cards etc back, but they had taken £100+ In notes from her purse. They even left the coins! My mate was with us too and had a similar amount taken from his jeans which were also in his sleeping compartment with him.

The arena I thought was good, although the main stage set up isn't great. Preferred the Radio 1 layout.

I was in the stampede reported for The Proclaimers and it was a bit mental, but it wasn't a terrifying experience by any stretch!

There was a massive fire in the campsite last night, all good fun although clearly a bit dangerous. Out of order to be chucking missiles at the guy trying to put it out though.

All in all we had a great weekend.

You couldn't have been to far away from me, think we were red 2, saw the fire and wandered over probably quite dangerous but it did bring a bit of life into the campsite after the music was over.

Had a good weekend overall thought the Proclaimers and Noel Gallagher were both excellent. Despite the problems in the arena layout I think that the cash bars actually worked very well, never waited at all for a pint all weekend.

  10. Just home.

As expected the site is far far far to small. Got stuck in a bottle neck going to king tuts from the main stage which was utterly disgraceful. How no one was seriously hurt or injured in it I don't know. There needs to be serious changes to the site if it's going to continue at strathallan.

  11. Saw Avicii at Glasgow green. Was terrible, although I'm not to into that sort of stuff.

I think most of the edm acts fall flat on the big stages, the only really good one I remember being Swedish house mafia. The best edm set I've seen at T was Calvin Harris in king tuts, for whatever reason it's just much better in a tent.

    Anyway kasabian for me.

  12. Seems like the bulk of the rain is going to be in the early hours of Friday morning and then some intermittent showers throughout the afternoon but nothing severe. From the forecasts I've seen the rain seems to be moving closer to Thursday generally that the weekend now.

  13. Do you have the photo or a link? Can't find it anywhere desperate to see it

It's 10000000000% not strathallan. When you see the photo you will laugh at how anyone could think it's strathallan this year.
