I've just been thinking of the remaining bands and did some research of festivals around the time and have come up with the following list :- Interpol, mogwai, wombats, vampire weekend, Biffy,  Papa roach, wolfmother, mogwai, Christine and the queen's, Thom yorke, parquet courts, cigarettes after sex, Richard Ashcroft.

Other random bands I've thought of are :-

30stm- could play Thursday if ego doesn't prevent it

    Catfish and the bottlemen

    Hozier

Hozier plays Brussels on September 2th.

Well I'm not really local and I'm definitely not young, but I prefer Pukkelpop.

It depends on what your thing is.

From a musical perspective (and music is what interests me - I'm much less into the sideshows), Werchter concentrates on the big name acts and is where to go if you you want to see the arena bands.

Pukkelpop has smaller headliners, but a much better undercard in terms of small acts, and is a great place to discover new music, which is the main reason I keep going back there.

Last time I went to Werchter (2010), there were only a handful of acts on that interested me and I got thoroughly bored. Haven't been back since.

In 2010 RW had a Main stage and Pyramid Marquee (Klub C). Now you have 2 extra stages with The Barn and The Slope.
With the 4 stages, the number of bands has almost doubled, with a larger undercard / more small acts now. RW is 4 full days, PKP 3.
If you're not into 'electronic music' and like guitars, RW offers you almost as many bands as PKP, from small to real big.

The avarage age of PKP is (way) lower than RW. More nervous drunken kids, which you can find especially in the dance hall and boiler, or at the camp site. The main stage is not that crowded than RW. For example: when The war on drugs was playing PKP, you could easily walk up till 15-20 meters from the main stage without pushing people.
RW is imo more relax and more international in general, but the stages are more crowded.

That's very plausible! There must be a great need for security/policemen in event as big as that. A few years ago one of Werchter events was canceled IIRC because the police couldn't  provide enough men to secure the event as it was on a holiday or something like that.

Secu/Police is not an issue (also for the cancelled Riri gig). It's all about accomodation/logistics.
One example: For the Tour ASO claims all hotels in a wide range of Brussels (even Belgium). All teams + 500 tv crew + 600 promo caravan + ASO crew + 2000 journalists + TDF fans from outside Belgium.
RW need that hotels too. It won't work out.

    Hi guys.

Hoping someone can help a first timer!

We've had our flight changed tomorrow last minute so won't be getting to Brussels til about half 8pm

2 questions. What time does the shuttle bus from leuven to the hive run until

And does the hive ticket guarantee a space in the hive? Like im guessing it will already be quite full by the time we get there at 10ish?

    Cheers!

Today, shuttles will run from Leuven to The Hive till 22:00.

    Hi!

do you know if there are any local food stores around / in the town of Werchter itself?

I'm camping in A1 and just heard you even have to pay to use a toilet. Is that right? Do you need food tickets for that?

    Cheers!

There's a supermarket in Haacht (+/- 3,5km from A1). By foot good for the 1st day as it is almost 6km to and from Haacht. Not for every day unless you have super powers.
You can't pay with RW vouchers on camping A1.

Does anyone know if the food tokens can be used to purchase the merch? Thinking I may have gone overboard on how many I bought and might have quite a few left over!

    No, only cash/card.
But with this weather you can drink some more ;)

I'm surprised no ones mentioned the lineup change on here...

The Slope acts changed (Todiefor and Faces on TV) to make way for the Brazil - Belgian Game.

Main Stage, Barn, Klub C shows going ahead as usual.

    See changes here: https://clashfinder.com/s/rw2018/

@arcuse quick on the mark as usual. ☺️

This was foreseen in the Slope schedule. There was a gap in the line up on Saturday and Belgian bands on the slot of the quarterfinals on Friday evening. So they could easily slide in the line up if it became clear when the Belgian game was on. The Belgian bands on Friday were that high in the line up just for this reason.

The shuttle busses from Leuven to the festival grounds are free right? Just want to make sure

Also in relation to the free train tickets, I'm going from Brussels airport to Leuven, it says you need to buy a ticket for the start of the journey, what will I select starting station on the belgianrail website for the free portion of the ticket? If anyone knows, ty.

The shuttle busses Leuven - RW - Leuven are free (daily).

1 Train ticket from any Belgian train station to the festival and 1 train ticket back is to any Belgian train station is free (not daily).
Go to the RW / NMBS ticket link to order your free tickets Brussels/Zaventem - Leuven and back.

Attention! If you're departing form Brussels Airport - Zaventem, you still have to buy 2 Diabolo fee tickets: one for your outward journey and one for your homeward journey.
Buy the 2 seperate Diabolo tickets: http://www.belgianrail.be/en/tickets-railcards/airports/diabolo-fee-from-airport.aspx

  9. For those who have not been informed yet: the big trees (both rows) between entrance and main stage have been cut down and replaced by lots of small trees. The 300 new trees at random places are still too small to give any shade. Take your cap or hat and lots of sun milk. It's gonna be hot hot hot!
Welcome in Belgium. Have fun, enjoy the music, the Belgian beer, and keep it safe ;)

Me and my friends are looking to get mdma / coke , how hard would it be to find people selling these?

also, we are getting the train from Amsterdam, how strict are they when it comes to bringing weed from Amsterdam into Belgium? If I get caught with a bit will they just take it off me or will I get thrown in jail?

Thanks in advance! 6 days to go €!!!!!!!!

  11. Tip: don't believe any weather forecast before Sunday 1st of July :)
We have 17°C (+ had some rain in the morning) today and Wednesday it will be 29°C. Some things can change very fast :)
Check www.meteo.be (national weather service) a few days before the festival.

Definitely - buy up front, it's way cheaper. Although you might want to buy a few on site since the queue to trade in vouchers on the first evening is barking. The credit card queue was empty.

1 voucher per 33cl beer I think. 2 for most food.

You can carry your own booze into the camp sites, but we're stuffed with carrying our kit from the train so will be light on booze.

There are 3 of us and so we've estimated 160 vouchers needed - we'll get 120 in advance and buy 40 when we get there (20 first night, 20 contingency, just in case our livers rebel).

    A normal beer at the regular stands = 25cl = 1 voucher.
At the Apero the size can be 33cl for some special beers.

How to get from Leuven to Brussels city centre or Airport after Pearl Jam?! Last train seems to be 00.44am.

Also looking for 1 pearl jam day ticket. +44 7969524527

There is no public transport to Brussels after the headliners. Shuttlles go to Leuven only.
    1. Take the first train in the morning
    2. Taxi (expensive + always chaos)
    3. Rent a car

  14. Last Hive tickets on sale now!

The Werchter festival site is from now on a public park (not in the festival seazon) with new roads and 500 new trees:

People have touched on this before over the last hundred pages, but just wondering what kind of weather should be expected? Done Benicassim twice (second was way too hot) and done may Irish festivals (too wet) so hoping RW will be warm and dry?!

Also, do you think it's imperative to bring a sleeping bag? If so would it possible to pick one up in Leuven? Will be short for space without a checked bag (have Hive resort tickets so don't need to bring a tent/air mattress).

One final question, is there anywhere to buy alcohol within walking distance of the campsites, or is Leuven your only option to top up your campsite beers?

Impossible to say at this moment. A maximum of 2 weeks before the festival you will get a better view on the weather.
Been there since I was a young kid and I can say that only one thing is certain: there will be no snow :)
We had cold editions with 10°C and rain, we had some hot editions over 30°C (but never 46°C :) ).
Belgium has an average of 14 days with rain in July, average maximum temperature of 23°C and minimum of 14°C.

If it is cold, you can use a sleeping bag. But if it is sunny and you have been in the sun for a whole day, you may get cold at night. So a sleeping bag is always a good idea.

There is a supermarket in Haacht, +/- 3km from The Hive. Good for the first day. On day 2, the 6km walk for some bottles looks already like 10km, on day 4 it is the highway to hell ;)
