  1. Bought some waterproof spray for tent and jacket. Thought about putting tent up, but didn't. Need a kick up the arse as not organised at all and got one weekend spare before glasto now - muse, two 40ths and a 70th are draining my glasto prep time, aaargghh, still not got ticket, so will become too real when it turns up....

  2. I lost one of my old nokia's to the glasto mud via a hole in my pocket a few years back. I blinked and my mates had disappeared, watched James Brown, Supergrass on my 'own' and totally saw what I wanted - best time was had knowing I'd catch my mates later on. Don't need a phone, but always prepared to lose stuff now and don't take valuabes. My current glasto old nokia lasts 5 days off one charge.

  3. Dismay here, put card details in twice and only got beyond that when they had 'run out of stock' gutted for my friends who won't be joining me this year as we gave up our 2011 tickets due to my cancer diagnosis, so may have to come to cider bus meet and celebrate with some new ones instead.....

  4. Good luck everyone - I have mine but trying for a a good few others up and down the country - we only get to see each other at Glastonbury and we all WILL get through first time and get the tickets we require. If I can help anyone out I will, that's if you don't have any trust issues.

Nails are disappearing rapidly, nervously excited for tomorrow

  5. not quite in the same vein as the others. but one of my favourite glastonbury quotes was from the toilets at the stone circle in 2010. There i am, minding my own business when I hear from the cubicle next to me the strained shouts of "who... does... number... two... work... for???"

sums up the kind of unexpected entertainment you can get from the wonderous place... or is that just me?

  6. Relative newcomer here too. 2004 was my first - arrived at dusk on Thursday night, threw tent up badly as soon as we entered the site in poor light, watched England lose on penalties to Portugal for Euro 2004 on a vendor's portable TV, got totally lost/drunk, woke up (in my tent surprisingly) to what I thought was an earthquake was actually the big blue dance tent kicking in Fri am and the ground totally shook - awesome....

  7. Best - too many to mention, but buying blankets from Oxfam blanket stall in 2010 and tying them to a pergola in Jazz World with our tent ropes to create some shade - made new friends as they stopped for a bit of respite from the fierce sun.

Worst - 2007 rain was tough going, 2004 losing my mobile in the mud and subsequently losing my group of friends became one of the worst to best times - I wandered off solo and saw things I probably wouldn't have come across otherwise.

  8. We freeze 2ltr bottles of cider before setting off, and by the time we have arrived and set the tent up, it's lovely having a chilled cider slushy before heading out.

I usually fill small water bottles with vodka/gin/brandy to take with me, when there, take an empty one out with me so I can buy a cold bottle of coke to mix it with whilst out and about of an eve.

  9. Our usual party of 12 or so have never taken a gazebo, but in 2010, my best friend (a glasto virgin) suffered severe heatstroke on the Friday morning, so we asked our neighbours if she could shade under their gazebo, which they happily obliged, and for which we were very grateful. Unfortunately, things went downhill and the medics struggled to get her out of our camping area, due to tent tapers, but the odd gazebo proved a quick exit route. She (and i) spent all day Friday in the medical centre, and she eventually had to leave site around 9pm that evening - she was distraught at having to go home.

I got us tickets for 2011 but had to give them up due to ill health and she chose to stay with me through my treatment and we watched it on the TV. I have a ticket for 2013 (from another friend) luckily, but unfortunately, she was one of the unlucky ones. Is it worse to have a ticket and be forced to give it up than not get one at all in the October sale - I'm undecided currently????
