  1. I don't think The Antlers are big enough over here to get a night-time slot in many places at Glastonbury, which is a huge shame. One of my all time favourites.

Playing Hackney Empire at the end of the month. Reckon that's at least sizeable enough to manage at least, say, third down on the Park?

I'd settle for the Antlers at sunset.

  2. He said "possibly for the last time ever", but it was during Normal Person as the Bobbleheads were on. I assumed it was the possibly last time ever the Reflektors would play, not Arcade Fire.

Anyway, I was at Win's DJ set in Dalston with 50 other people last night. Spilled Bulmers in Regine's hair. She didn't notice. Not relevant but I had to gloat.

Where am I going to go to discuss AF after this thread dies?

  3. Arcade Fire - Wake Up. Most of Dolly - hadn't slept so that was a big one. Stone Circle on Wednesday night and all that occurred there. The sun coming out for Blondie and Elbow. Walking (crawling) into the inner Rabbit Hole for the first time and being blown away by the place.

Oh, falling asleep at the back of the Park to James Blake was pretty much perfection too.

  4. Saw Johnny Flynn do one as part of the Gentlemen of the Road stuff.

On the barrier for the 1975 (a foot away from that little ruckus during that show) and Metronomy.

Also at Warpaint, though I think the sound was a bit naff. Maybe we shouldn't have sat round the corner by the cafe but it seemed awful quiet.

The Correspondents in the Rabbit Hole on Saturday night was mental too.

  5. Insane. Was halfway between stage and sound desk, in a great group of people (about 6 of us) all on a load of drugs.

Best performances I've ever seen of Reflektor, Rebellion (that new little guitar part at the start is sick as hell), Haiti, Sprawl II, HCTNT and Wake Up.

And so great to see them all with such big grins on their faces through the whole thing.

  6. Do you know what? Fuck it. I just carried a load of shopping home in the middle of London and I've now sweated out all the moisture in my body. Screw this so much.

    Bring on the rain.

  7. Also don't get hung up on forecasts that are specific to the Pilton area, look at the broader regional forecasts. I live an hour away from the Festival and the forecasts here are different, they are showing no rain at the weekend at all.

Think they'll let us have the festival at your house?

  8. So I think we're looking at this for a likely setlist, right?

    Reflektor

Learn to Fly (Foo Fighters cover)

    Buffalo Soldier (Bob Marley cover)

    Neighbourhood #3 (Power Out)

    Joan of Arc

    The Suburbs

Take Me Out (Franz Ferdinand cover)

    Afterlife

    It's Never Over (Oh Orpheus)

    Heart of Glass (Blondie cover)

    Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)

    Common People (Pulp cover)

    ---

    Normal Person

  9. It was probably another band member actually. I imagine Win would be too busy arguing on basketball forums.

History tells us that if any member of Arcade Fire is going to spend all his time pissing about on an internet message board, it's Will.

  10. Just imagine this as the end of the show...

    Sprawl II

Common People (with Jarv and Steve Mackey)

    Encore: (all with Bowie)

    Reflektor

    "Heroes"

    Wake Up

    a man can dream

Was about to post the same dream. Though I'd like Common People next to Normal Person. I always figured it sounded a bit like a Pulp song.

Really wouldn't surprise me if they're doing this on purpose, but I can see Common People happening.

Of course. They're, like, the most self-aware and meta band of all time.

  11. If you're looking for the one full set video not to show someone to convince them to go see AF with you, that'll be the Northside one that's happening at the minute.

They seem to be experimenting with a handful of new effects that aren't working. Or the stream sound is terrible. Haiti sounded off and No Cars Go used a guitar effect for a few seconds that was just shocking.

    EDIT:

That said, Will bullfighting Richard during Rebellion is one of the funniest things I've seen for a while.

  12. That'd be their 90 minute setlist…with an extra 15 minutes you can expect at least another 3 slipped in there…something in between Joan of Arc and The Suburbs (Rococco, Month of May have featured here), and a couple of extras around Tunnels/No Cars Go (Laika, Crown of Love, Intervention, Ocean of Noise, Keep the Car Running, Headlights have all popped up here in their longer sets and they are pretty certain to play Haiti around here as well)…Set list apart from 2-3 surprises is pretty set in stone by the looks of things now…

Shit, I forgot about the extra 15 minutes. Well, part of that would be given to We Exist's length. Then I'd say Rococo and Haiti.

  13. Would love to see North American Scum, Someone Great, Drunk Girls or I Can Change.

Or even All My Friends. An Arcade Fire take on that would be interesting.

I think Drunk Girls would be most likely though, maybe just before Normal Person. Got the backing vocals and the general vibe you'd need for that.

I think Despacio is a late night thing too so it could well happen.

That said, I'd be equally happy with Jarvis and Common People.

    Edit:

    Starting to think that -

    Reflektor

    Flashbulb Eyes

    Neighbourhood #3 (Power Out)

    Rebellion (Lies)

    Joan of Arc

    The Suburbs

    The Suburbs (Continued)

    Ready to Start

    Neighbourhood #1 (Tunnels)

    No Cars Go

    We Exist

    Afterlife

    It's Never Over (Oh Orpheus)

    Sprawl II

    ---

    Drunk Girls

    Normal Person

    Here Comes the Night Time

    Wake Up

would be a really, really, really sexy setlist.

  14. Agree on the music point - a lot of it didn't work and fell a bit flat.

But the atmosphere's pretty amazing, and once they start playing better music the whole thing becomes a rather transcendental experience, as I'm sure anyone who heard Here Comes The Sun through Despacio earlier this year will tell you.

  15. Their intentions with the stage setup totally worked - it really did feel like being in a packed out club.

I was under the triangular lighting rig (won't spoil that for anyone but holy shit) and the crowd was one of the best I've ever seen. And then everything went completely batshit from Normal Person onwards.

  16. …most under-rated track on the suburbs…really encapsulates the theme of feeling estranged…wish they'd play this sometime (and my favourite on the album, Deep Blue)...

    "Cops shone their lights

On the reflectors of our bikes

Said "Do you kids know what time it is?"

Well, sir, it's the first time I felt like something is mine

Like I have something to give

The last defender of the sprawl

Said "Well, where do you kids live?"

Well, sir, if you only knew what the answer is worth

Been searching every corner of the earth…"

    http://youtu.be/aEz2skFPyxs

"The last defender of the sprawl" is my favourite Arcade Fire line.
