And I said it was valid criticism no doubt.
But to complain about it without mentioning anything positive about the last 4-5 days is crazily unbalanced.
Can you imagine what it is like to organise something on this scale? Organisers are not paid a lot; I think some respect is due for the overall effort and success of the festival.
If you want me to preface any complaints with a full review of the festival in future, then I'll be happy to do that.
Respect is absolutely due for a fantastic festival and that should (or I thought so) go without saying. Doesn't mean I have to say that when raising a point about a shambolic and borderline dangerous event near the end.

Next year they are torn trying to decide between cancelling the free closing party and filling it with pub bands instead of bands like The Avalanches and Deerhunter. Hey presto, no queues.
Perhaps then you will be happy...
Oh come off it. Not getting in isn't the problem - that shit just happens sometimes. Swings and roundabouts.
what is the problem is offering zero communication to the people queueing, allowing them to stand outside for two hours with no intention of letting them in, then sending your incredibly aggressive security out to break it all up when you decide it's about time to end it. Awful.

Ooh, check out that organisation for the queues outside the closing party. I know one festival that's getting a complaint email

Can someone please tell me how this bloody closing party at the Apolo works? Do you just show up?

NEW SECURITY MEASURES
In order to ensure the security of the audience and to guarantee that everybody has a good time during the festival, this year the following measures have been introduced:
OBLIGATORY IDENTIFICATION
It will be necessary to have your identity card or passport on you at all times, as it is obligatory to show it before or while picking up and exchanging your tickets, or if required by security staff on the Parc del Fòrum site. In the case of non-Spanish audience, copies of official ID papers from your country will be accepted (ID, passport, driver’s license).
Also, it is recommended that you pick up and exchange your ticket on the 30th,, 31st May and 1st June to avoid possible queues on the main days of the festival.
MOTORBIKE HELMETS, BAGS, BACKPACKS AND SUITCASES ON THE SITE
For security reasons it will not be permitted to enter the Parc del Fòrum site with motorbike helmets, large suitcases, bags and backpacks. As at previous editions, it will be possible to access the site with smaller backpacks and bags.
Other objects that will not be permitted on the site are: bottles, cans, laser pointers, professional photo and video equipments, drones and arms of any kind.
ATTENTION: There will be no cloakroom outside the site; as also for security reasons this service has been cancelled.
IMPORTANT: It is recommended to leave large objects and any other objects that are not permitted on the site in your accommodation and to lock your helmets to your vehicle.
So what does this mean for anyone planning on using a ticket with someone else's name (I.e. having bought it off them) to get in?

Sold out in a literal minute. Never stood a chance.

edit: I'm an idiot ignore me

In the past it's been absolutely fine. To cover yourself I would get a picture of their passport to show (and maybe a short note to explain) but you probably only need this for VIP if at all.
Thanks!

Just out of interest, what's the deal with someone using someone else's tickets? We've got a (female) no-show this year so have given the ticket to another (male) friend. Will they be able to just use them or do we need to do something first?

How long does it take to walk from the Heineken to the Pitchfork stage? LCD finish at the exact minute Neon Indian start. Should I be worried?

As a huge Battles and Neon Indian fan, I feel like weeping.
-
Welp, I'd say I'm pretty on board with seeing this live.

GIVE ME YEASAYER OR GIVE ME DEATH

I really want something good that stands up with Odd Blood from Yeasayer but I don't see any hint of it from that new song. Shame as it seemed like they were gonna make a pretty big name for 'emselves once upon a time.
Totally disagree. Fragrant World was fantastic (just not poppy) and this song is a great middle-ground between the synthy weirdness of that LP and Odd Blood's singalong fun. That bit towards the end when it goes all Sufjan Stevens is fantastic.
Villagers have a new album out today, by the way.

you know what, it's actually starting to look possible.
According to yesterday's weather forecasts I should be having torrential rain right now (in Brizzle), but i've looked at my rain radar a few times this morning, and all of the rain is so far staying pretty much in the English Channel rather than being 100+ miles northwards now as predicted - and from those radar pics the rain has been about stationary down there for the last hour and half (it only gives me the last hour and half).
So who knows? It's certainly not panning out as predicted, presumably because the colder system over the UK has pushed southwards rather than the hotter weather pushing northwards.
[cautious optimism increases]
Hopefully. I'm only there for Friday and Saturday, sadly, due to other engagements, and I'm performing/working most of that time, but god, what I'd do for a festival with nice weather this year.
My first year at Boomtown, actually - I know its reputation, but... can anyone give me a decent idea of what to expect? Like, in a few sentences? I've done SGP half a dozen times so I've got a fairly decent idea, but I'm going in totally blind here.

weather's looking up.
It's still shit, but not as shit as it looked 24 hours ago.
So what you're saying is that the shitness of the weather is declining at such a rate that we can 100% expect a sunny, hot, pleasant weekend?

Ideal location to stick the monorail in 2016

its a week away yet...weather can change.
True. And anything that's not 2012 is a win in my mind.
-
For anyone wondering about the weather I can happily confirm that, yes, it's going to be shit.
-
There's two this year - Badger Woods (although it's Chai Wallahs this year) and Toad Hall
Was Toad Hall always there? Been to SGP five times and only ever seen it at Glastonbury.
edit/P.S. - for those who know it, Leisure Pirate tent - the little one that's been all over the site in the last ten years, that's open until 6am and that has occasional secret sets - is by the lake this year (and bigger).

The name of the small stage within the Rabbit Hole is The Flavour Parlour. You could ask on their FB page.
Thank you! That's super helpful.
-
That's not the one here? http:///s/g2015/
I did the opposite and missed her and saw SFA. I don't even know that much of their stuff, but they were excellent.
Nah, that's the main one. The stage round the back is just small enough to mean nobody has any idea who ever plays on it.
-
A full plate of sautéed garlic potatoes for £3 on the path up to the Stone Circle from the railway line. Best thing I had all weekend.
-
Anyone know where I might be able to find a roster of bands that played on the Rabbit Hole's smaller stage, the one that's actually through the Rabbit Hole?

On a similar note, anyone know if the way into the arena from artist's camping (wherever that is) is the same as from the village, and, if not, how strict the patdowns there are?
