  1. There appear to be two common themes running through this thread which are causing all of the hate.

    1. Certain fans of the Rolling Stones believing their own hype so much to the extent that they are convinced that there are loads of great bands in the world and then up in the next stratosphere are the Stones.

    2. These same deluded Stones fans didn't get a ticket on T-Day.

Add the two together and you have some very angry people. People that are prepared to rant at anyone who dares to have a different point of view.

Maybe it's time to ignore these fools and get back to what Glasto is all about.........130,000 people sharing a love of music and all things entertainment.

Personally I now hope that Sir Mick decides that he's not working for "peanuts" and fucks off to South America for the Summmer.

  2. It is. That doesn't make me Hitler!

Actually it kind of does a bit. In your world Frank Turner fans (who I'm not one of btw) should be put in a gas chamber and wiped off the face of the earth. You are spouting ridiculous propaganda about a rock band that were good once! Quite a long time ago!! To expect everyone to fall to their knees in the presence of what are, in your eyes at least, mega Gods is a little fascist and I'm glad that you've been attacked for your views.

If the Stones do play Glasto I will check them out, but it won't make one jot of difference to me if they don't. Having opinions on these things is fine, but forcing those opinions on others is wrong, and abusing people over something so unimportant in the grand scheme of things is frankly the beginnings of music Nazism and I applaud Neil for stamping on it hard!! goodjob.gif

  3. I had a list of 23 registration numbers and all of our group were trying from 8.30am. Amazingly I was the only one that succesfully got through......3 times in a row and managed to get every ticket we needed. 2 lots via IE around 10am and one via Safari on an iPad at 10.30!

I'm now considered a bit of a legend by my friends! geek.gif

  4. Last year we left around midday on the Monday and it took around 8 hours to get back to Surrey after dropping off a couple of mates. The A30 was at a standstill for large periods. And I was the only driver whilst all of my mates slept. I was knackered when we finally got home. That's likely to be the case again next year although we've hired a campervan, and as none of us have to be back at work that week the plan is to stay overnight on the Monday and head back Tuesday morning. Anyone know if we'll be allowed to stay in the Campervan Fields on the Monday night or are we likely to be thrown out at 6pm that day?

  5. Last year when we were all wandering around on the Wednesday we stumbled into a bar to get out of the rain. They had a DJ playing and after about an hour or so of us being there he dropped All Night Long by Lionel Ritchie. At the end of this record he literally had people applauding and cheering him. From this straw pole I conclude that Lionel Ritchie is a legend and would therefore go down a storm!

  6. Definitely agree with this point about campervans. We've hired a 6 berth for next year between 5 of us which is a bit pricey, but when you consider how much that will save us and the additional comfort that it offers I think it's a price worth paying.

We're not students or 20 somethings, but instead are all older working people who can afford to pay a bit more to improve our festival experience, and staying outside of the festival site definitely has certain appeals.

Aren't there companies that will deliver campervans to Glastonbury and then drive them away at the end of the week? That might work for you James, even as a non driver! Not sure how expensive it would be though for just 1 person.

  7. I've got to say we felt thoroughly spolit with our little campsite. The guy that runs it had had some hassle from Glastonbury and wasn't sure if it would still be available next year. If it is we are definitely going back. And we've hired a campervan for this year!

Our biggest concern was always that we had to go through security every day and literally only one of us over the 5 days had a cursory search of a bag done. There were 15 of us staying at this site. There were never any queues in or out and as long as you're organised with what you take in each day, and make use of the free lockers for a change of clothes for the evening, then it's simple as peas!!

We had considered the Tipi's for this year but I don't really think they're value for money, and it did feel good to wake up off site every day next to our car, and cook our own breakfast.

  8. Last year we stayed on a campsite just a bit further out from Tangerine Fields. It was really a workers campsite but is also a permanent site for some people year round. We loved it as our grass was still green at the end of the week when there was only mud on the festival site. The fact that it had a proper hot shower and numerous portaloos probably helped. I believe this to be the case in Tangerine Fields too!

Granted there was a bit of a walk in and out each day but this was never really a problem. We were lucky as we had a pass to drive around the local roads so were able to make daily trips to Tesco's for extra booze etc. But staying off site definitely wasn't the big hassle that most people suggest/believe.

  9. What about an Old Skool House tent like Back to 89 or 10 Years of Dance. I reckon with all the older ravers that are in attendance at Glastonbury this would be a definite tent filler. I can imagine the piano's and beautiful melodic vocals now and I would be in my element. With the sun shining and some mind altering substances I'd be a very happy man!

  10. A group of us have decided to share registration numbers and postcodes and just keep trying until we all have tickets. One question I have though is, in the unlikley event that two of us were lucky enough to get through at more or less the same time and tried to buy tickets for each other, would the system recognise this and prevent us from buying a ticket for someone who already has one allocated to them? If that happens we can just carry on down the list until all 8 tickets have been allocated and it gives everyone the motivation to keep going right until the end.
