  1. We were down there for a wedding on Friday/Saturday and came back along the A303 on Saturday morning. The journey took 2 1/2 hours from Long Sutton to Caterham, Surrey and the only delays we encountered were around Stonehenge and then getting onto the M25. Friday morning it was slightly longer going, around 3 hours, but that was at 9.30am so not too bad.

Yes there are roadworks but they are fairly easy to navigate through. You'll be fine.

  2. Last year we arrived on Tuesday night and came in along the A303. This wasn't a problem as the roads around the site were all still open and we had no problem getting in. This time we are planning on arriving around 7am on Thursday and I wondered if this means we should consider a different route into Campervan West?

I don't really know the M4 route so if anyone has any pointers I'd be grateful. We also hope to meet friends en route who are coming from Weston Super Mare, which presumably makes the M4 option even better?

  3. Matt

I went to Gracelands on the Old Kent Road once and there were 6 or 7 Elvis impersonators having dinner together. They all done an Elvis song and then this black guy just out for dinner with his missus had a go and was the best one of the bunch, including Chinese Elvis in his rhinestone suit! Don't think it was "Black Elvis" though! He was really skinny from memory! (Obviously ate there a lot!!)

  4. I'm really hoping he plays some of that early 80's dance stuff. The pre house days are absolutely my thing, although I love the everything dance from 1980 through to 1995 so Genosys will definitely be the highlight of my festival this year.

I've got a record box stuffed full of that rare groove, jazz funk, late disco type stuff and if what I've heard on his soundcloud is anything to go by (sadly I never got to the Hacienda or Legend as I'm a Surrey boy and that whole scene seemed a long way away in the 80's), it'll be an epic couple of nights. I'd love to see the Revox in action too!

  5. Does anyone have any ideas on what time Genosys will be starting up each night? I know it's the late night area but does that mean it starts after the main stage haedliners have finished or will it possibly clash?

One of my must sees of the festival is Greg Wilson and I'm praying that he doesn't clash with Chic on the Friday night.

When do the late night areas schedules usually get announced by the way?

  6. Erm. Thanks Payner. Do one Mike!

I've promised not to think about football again for a while after the emotional rollercoaster of the last few weeks and a week in a field in Somerset is just what I need to get over losing to a team from.......Somerset!!!

I will be with my Wife (although she's the biggest party animal of the lot) so some of the nice relaxing stuff certainly appeals.

  7. My first Glasto was 2011 and due to the mud, a large group of friends, most of who were pretty battered most of the time, and staying off site at one of the unofficial campsites, I feel that I didn't really get to see the best of what the festival has to offer.

This year the group is even larger, but 5 of us are staying in Campervan West whilst the rest of them plan on camping in Pennards. They'll all certainly be battered again, as will I of course, but I plan to try and do some stuff away from the group and see some of the things that I've missed previously.

I know a lot has changed on this years map but if you could only suggest one thing for me to do/see this year what would it be? At this stage all I have on my list of must sees is Chic/Portishead and Greg Wilson. I've no idea when Greg Wilson is playing yet but if it's Friday night around 10-11pm I might just kill myself.

By the way your suggestions don't have to be bands/artists. The Bimble Inn thread has inspired me as I didn't even get to the Park last time!!!

  8. Thanks. I realised afterwards that I should probably have put this in questions rather than chat so apologies all. Dairy Field makes much more sense and I thought Daisy Field was just one that I hadn't heard of previously.

I'm in the Camper but it's a few of the newbies that are terrified of what they're about to encounter. I guess we've all been there.

  9. Out of the 20 odd people in our group 5 of us have a campervan and a ticket for Campervan West. The remainder will all be camping having missed out trying to get some Tipi's. There's a few first timers in that group and they're hoping for a quieter area of the site to camp if possible, and ideally not too far from Campervan West. Someone has recommended the Daisy Field?

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

  10. Just posted this in the Chic thread.....might as well put it here and get Portishead fans opinions too.

A couple of weeks ago, when the Chic rumour appeared on here, I announced to all of my friends with tickets that it would have to be something very special indeed to make me be anywhere else when they're headlining West Holts.

Now I have that problem with the clash with Portishead. This is made even tougher by the fact that my Wife's absolute favourite band of all time is Portishead and she will not be anywhere else when they headline. I am so torn between the two and just don't know what to do! Can't believe that we've known the lineup for less than 24 hours and already I'm stressing about a clash.

I assume that it will be a clash for the entire set of both and the walk between Other and West Holts will be long enough to even prevent me catching the last 15 minutes of either bands set? Anyone got any suggestions? Maybe I'll just toss a coin!!!
