  1. Short Man Syndrome. It's not just starting fights and that, it's also if they are in a job with power they are quite often assholes. I'm not saying it's just short guys like this and all tall guys are fine, but I find a lot of short guys are like this, especially in the army.

  2. Right, not sure where this post is going but here is a graph

    crop7.original.jpg

    Nicked from The Guardian.

"... It gives you an idea of the spike in Twitter mentions of said footballer's surname on the social media site in the late afternoon after it emerged that his legal team had launched an action against Twitter to try and restrain mentions of his name online. You can decide if it worked...."

Left axis, number of mentions. Right axis time. (That spike represents about 0.1% of all tweets at that point in time)

He's getting the same number of mentions as he does every week during and after a United game, which is a pretty phenomenal f**k up by his lawyers whose aim is to stop his name being mentioned.

(BTW - the source of the graph is trendistic - which is pretty clever stuff - have a look at this http://trendistic.com/giggs/_30-days - the Shalke game on April 26th saw tweets mentioning Giggs running at about 0.2% of all tweets.)

I think he needs some new advisers.

  3. Oh yeah, i read that at the time i think, f**k it let 'em moan. Like us they should just be grateful to be going to the best place in the world for 5 days, however they get there.

I don't know what you mean by 'kicking your height'. Is that a geordie thing?! Kindly elucidate, it sounds like fun.

  4. Attila The Hun....

"According to Roman historian Priscus's (who actually saw & met him) description ... he was Short of stature, with a broad chest and a large head; his eyes were small, his beard thin and sprinkled with gray; and he had a flat nose and tanned skin, showing evidence of his origin that he was asiatic mongol looks."

As such, he was a shortarse but, with all that raping and pillaging, never short of female company.

And, on an attila theme, Attila the Stockbroker's not going to bang his head on many door lintels either and his wife's bonny.

Clearly, the stature of a man is measured in more than feet and inches.

p.s. just to clarify, i'm 5 10 - no giant admittedly but not a stumpy either.

  5. Lol @ 350 of them turning up. You'd get more people turning up for a Gary Glitter concert!

"The organisation's debt clock, mounted on a lorry, was driven past the site of the protest several times, greeted by cheers"

Well with so few of them there it had to drive past several times otherwise, they'd have hired a truck and, it'd have been been and gone in a few seconds.

  6. This is the most intresting (from my perspective) part of this. What will happen with the UKs IR/Treat Obligations/Nuclear Wepons. The vast majority of our nuclear infrastructure (wepon wise) is in Scotland so do they get to keep them? Will England, Wales and Northenr Ireland stay as The UK and keep all the treaty obligations? If this happens will Scotland be able to stay in the EU or will they have to reapply for membership? What happens to our place as one of the perminant members of the security council? ect ect ect

  8. If Scotland gained independence the UK would then have to take a step back with regards to military, diplomacy and politics on an international scale. England, Wales and NI simply wouldn't have the same clout.

  9. I totaly dissagree. Wales and the England are too intertwined, its only the fringe of Plaid that push for independence. Even the most ardent Plaid supports I know dont think Independence is the right route for Wales. When I lived in the mid wales Plaid hartlands people there cared about culture (welsh language, music, rugby ect) but not political/legal sepeartion.

  10. I'm sorry?? :O I realise this board is generally left wing, but if you can't see that the reorganisation of constituencies to be round about the same size and profile is a very sensible thing to do then, to be honest, I'm all for IQ tests to qualify for voting. If anything, the constituency boundaries currently very unfairly favour Labour. You only need to look at the facts where similar number of votes = more seats for Labour, less for Conservative. What a ridiculous statement, and all too prevalent of the rabid left wing - polemic before facts, it's almost like a religious thing with you lot. Ignore the facts, Red is good, Blue is bad, Left is good, Right is bad.

I do class myself as pretty centred in politics but I'm happy to be right wing, if this is what goes for left wing opinion.

  11. I cant see Wales going for independence myself theres no real driving desire for it here. Wales and England are a lot more intertwined than Scotland and England - we dont have our own legal system, 30% of people living in Wales were born in England and a hell of a lot of people on the borders commute (both ways) across the border to work.

  12. It depends on what parts of England. Richer areas and Tory areas certainly. However, a lot of places in England know that Scotland is a massive part in ensuring that constant Conservative Govts dont happen, and know the consequences if that anti-Tory vote was removed.

  13. I was illustrating the fact that you don't know the specifics. I wasn't inviting us to consider them. I was showing that we've got f**k all to consider.

Have you seen the film 12 Angry Men? I always think of that when I come across threads like this.

  14. All assumption. All put into a pre-existing narrative that you have in your head about the prevalence of American sue culture. The British media at work. Well done. Get that anti-American sentiment going.

There may have been a faulty or uneven floor, she may have been duped, she could have been pushed, there could have been oil lying around, they may have told everyone that it was shallow. Anything could have happened. But lacking such details, look at the prejudices and assumptions that it's fed.
