  1. Had a great festival and was blown away by Arcadia,Block 9 etc.

However with so much going on during the day I felt I had to rush round to get them all in.

The work that goes into these areas must be something else and it seems a shame that they get to show their work and we get to enjoy it for just 3 nights.

    Anyone else think likewise?

  2. Was this at the Stone Circle? I got there just before 5am and saw a naked guy wandering through the crowd. Although I've not found it yet, I know I shot a brief movie there just after sunrise and think I captured the back of him in the distance!!!!

  3. Off site camping just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, it reeks of superiority, which is definitely not in the Glastonbury spirit.

I realise Michael has let this happen, but only as an appeasement to his neighbours, so they can cash in on the festival too.

Each to their own and all that, what's wrong with the rest of the festival though?

  4. Sorry for the double post, title seems to have gone somewhat strange!

I'm thinking about staying with them next year - did anyone camp with them? How far away were they? I think they were going to have buggies ferrying people and stuff to their site - did that work out ok?

  5. During Stevie Wonder there were many sky lanterns which added something to the good atmosphere. Then someone in front of me was strugging to light one. When it got going, she let go and it drifted backwards onto an unsuspecting group who were sitting just in front of us. Luckily it was grabbed just in time. Then either this one or another got trapped on a flag above us and for a few moments it looked as if there was going to be an inferno. Fortunately, it detached itself and drifted on up.

  6. The come down on Monday morning was really bad. Stopped in the middle of the Pyramid field with our bags etc on the way to the bus station to contemplate. They were already dismantling the equipment and a group of litter pickers were out. A walk back onto the festival site to find a loo whilst waiting for the bus was worse.

  7. Was watching Gorillaz and left to take a look at the Flaming Lips. Their set was definitely superior and one of the most impressive of all the big bands on the main stages.

  8. I'm from Manchester; the capital of drizzle. How anyone can describe 90 degree heat as 'great weather' is beyond me. Spent at least half of each day cowering under the gazebo, shuffling 6 inches to the left all day as the sun continued its remorseless assault. People who can wander around all day half naked without passing out amaze me. Personally, i would suggest 70-75 degrees with a nice little breeze and bit of cloud cover is perfect. I''ve rarely misssed Manchesters weather as much as this weekend and couldn't resist a beaming smile when i returned home yesterday and within an hour the heavens had opened. Great festival obviously, just a bit too hot this time.

  9. I dislike continuous heat and found it very draining at times, especially on the Sunday afternoon. The temperature in the tent became unbearable from about 8am, along with the choking dust too...

  10. Consultant just said that should never go to a rock concert again, which is a depressing thought, especially as I've been practising to play in one next year. Anyway, doors are open for me to attend Glasto, it will be just different to how I'd planned.

If anyone else suffers from hearing loss, or distortion, or finds themselves in trouble after Glasto, please feel free to ask me questions, I'd be glad to help if I can.

  11. Yup he's right.

Also bear in mind that diet alters the 'loudness' of the noise - if you're like me you won't be pleased to know that - red wine, and coffee particularly up the volume.

This is due to the reservoir in the ear's chemistry altering slightly - and the longer time it takes to equalise with the body (the same process that causes hangovers). I find oily, and spicy food also up the internal volume as does dehydration, and tiredness.

For tinnitus they often recommend having a radio on or similar noise - you can even get pillows with built in speakers - i find however that I always sleep better at festivals because of the ambient noise.

  12. No worries, hope it all goes well for you today. My left ear's buggered after chicken pox, but it can also be an advantage when wanting to sleep and your neighbours tents are a wee bit rowdy. Flip over onto my good ear and instant silence! I would also maybe think about where you're gonna pitch your tent. I wouldn't camp anywhere near the dance village or too close to the stages if I were you maybe? I prefer to camp fairly high up the hills if I can. Either way you will have a fab time am sure. Right am off to finish packing!

    Sarah x

  13. I'm sure you will be fine, I have major hearing loss in one ear and always carry ear plugs around with me now to protect what I have left. I've been to Glasto both before and after the damage and have never had any problems (though I do leave my hearing aid at home) My consultant just told me to be sensible and stay away from clay pidgeon shooting?!
