Welsh Samba Encontro 2005

This year the Encontro weekend starts on Saturdaywith an extensive workshop programme catering for a range of interests and levels of ability including cuban carnival rhythms, contemporary jungle, fusion and funk grooves, to specialist singing, dancing, composition and instrument workshops.
Performing spaces will be available in the City Centre during the afternoon, giving visiting samba bands the chance to show off as well as collect money for the charity, Teenage Cancer Trust.

There will also be an Encontro Social Evening at the Toucan Club.

On Sunday there are more workshops and outdoor performances culminating in the Celtic Connections Showcase. The 2005 Showcase line-up includes groups from the Scotland (SambaYaBamba), Ireland (MaSamba), Cornwall (White Noise) and Wales (Samba Galêz and En Masse).

On Bank Holiday Monday Sambadrome in Cardiff Bay is another chance for every visiting band to perform to the public, to be concluded with the mass samba band in the Oval Basin.
