Stompin' on the Quomps 2012

Established in 1994 Stompin' on the Quomps, is a FREE al-fresco Smooth Jazz Festival which has been postponed from July to Saturday 15th September 2012 and is based in the surroundings of Christchurch Quay, in Dorset.

Line-up

The community event will start at noon with The BeauBowBelles, Not Just Sax, Lemongrove, Blue Commotion with Zoe Schwarz and guest guitarist Henry Parker, and at 7.45pm the Taverners Big Band.

Family friendly

Now in its 18th year, it's a festival that is hugely popular with young families through to octogenarians soaking up the atmosphere and dancing to the sounds of bands ranging from Latin Jazz, Blues, through to the classic sound of the Big Band.

The expanded event will have food and drink stalls and full information can be found in the souvenir programme which will be available from the Christchurch Information centre, The Regent Centre, the Captain's Club Hotel and at the event itself.

Postponement

The postponement was due to fears that the riverside venue would not cope with vehicles and large numbers of people involved in such a large event. Event organiser, Adrian Dwyer, said, "The Quomps is a local riverside beauty spot and an attraction for both residents and tourist alike. After consulting with Christchurch Council it was decided that the ground would not cope this size of event in its current saturated state, even if the day itself is dry." Only the date has changed, everything else will remain as the July event intended.

Accommodation

This is a non-camping event. There are accommodation options in the surrounding area.
