'Freedom' is a FREE music and live arts festival, taking place in Hull city centre on Saturday 30th August from noon until late evening.

Acts confirmed include Wiley, The Magic Numbers, Noah and The Whale, Simon Webbe, The Paddingtons, Sweet Rebellion, Vogue, Booty Luv, Lucie Silvas, Maria Lawson, The Ryes, Sadie Ama, Phoenix, City Girls, Gulnaz, The Talks (featuring Neville Staple of The Specials), Lady Lykes, Hull Urban Collective, and many more.

Events happening as part of Freedom include live music, street theatre, dance performances, the Freedom Hairdressers, a performance of 'The Dream', and a 'silent disco' and will take place in Queens Gardens, Queen Victoria Square and Trinity Square.

Freedom is planned as an annual live arts and music event that will celebrate freedom in all its forms. Hull's most famous son William Wilberforce was a leading light of the anti-slavery movement and the city's involvement with modern human rights issues continues today through the work of the Wilberforce Institute for the Study of Slavery and Emancipation. Next year's festival will also be marking the 250th anniversary of the birth of William Wilberforce.

Childrens activities at Junior Freedom which starts at 2pm includes Balloonatic, Shirt or Squirt, Anyone for Tennis, Jason Maverick and more. From 5pm to 8pm a selection of acoustic music will take to the stage including Jess Banister, Farino, and Andrew Bain.
