The Clun Green Man Festival is a traditional springtime festival, held over three days on the first May Bank Holiday of the year from Saturday 30th to Monday 2nd May. The Festival takes place in the town of Clun in South Shropshire. The programme is full of live music, drama, and medieval malarkey and fun for all the family.
On Saturday there will be live music at the Memorial Hall Clun (band TBC).
On Sunday there's The Frost Queen's battle in the Square, followed by The Frost Queen's Street Fair from 12noon-6pm with Street entertainers, the Clun Mummers, Morris Dancers and Live Music on Clun Castle Meadow.
On Monday from 12 noon; the Green Man enters Clun accompanied by The May Queen, with craft demonstrations, strolling musicians and maypole dancing.
The famous "Battle on the Bridge" follows. The traditional May Fair opens in the grounds of Clun Castle (courtesy of English Heritage) with Green Man Fire & Drumming display on the hill, stalls and traditional craft demonstrations. Morris Dancing with the Iron Men and Severn Gilders, strolling entertainers, jugglers, jesters, magician Battle re-enactments with Swords of Chivalry, exotic pets, live music from Whalebone, maypole dancing, duck racing, beer tent and refreshments. New for 2011 are the Ecoplay Waterwalkers.
