Arboretum Festival 2007


Nottingham has lots of music events, with one nearly every weekend over the summer months, at the Arboretum Park and at other venues. Festivals often feature Nottingham bands and are designed to help local artists and musicians achieve some recognition, as well benefit the local community as a whole. Entry to all of these events is free.

Sunday, 17th June - Battle of the Bands - open from 12 noon until 6pm with Doctor and the Medics headlining. This the culmination of three pre-events showcasing 15 bands, from three Midland acadamies.
Saturday, 14th July - the Sneinton Festival - celebrating the the richness and diversity of the Sneinton community.
Sunday 15th July - One World One City - featuring L:60 (from Helsinki, Finland) headlining as well as many local artists including the following: Jez (Modulator); Alice Rock; The Silver Toungues; and Mint.Ive.
Saturday & Sunday 7-8th July: - Caribbean Carnival - open from 12 noon until around 9.30pm. Featuring sounds, tastes, fashion, floats, dance and creativiity plus arts and crafts from the 19 islands in the Caribbean. There are lots of opportunities for children and young people to get involved. Music caters for all tastes and includes soul, funk, and jazz with some top live acts. This is expected to take place in Forest Recreation Ground.
Sunday, 15th July - Nottingham Mela - open from 12 noon until 6pm.
Sunday, 26th August - Set All Free - an event to celebrate the formal abolition of the slavery trade, featuring artists from around the world.

GETTING THERE:
The Arboretum Park is situated just 10 minutes walk from the Royal Centre just off Waverley Street. Festival goers can hop on the tram direct to The Arboretum and alight at the Nottingham High School tram stop.
