The date has changed for this year - it's now happening on Sunday 1st August.

This is one of the most popular annual Arts and Music festivals in the south of England attracting over 8,000 visitors. It runs from midday until 9pm.

For 2004, there are five stages of live music, an ArtZone, an EcoZone, traders, caterers and children’s amusements.

Some of the line-up is now announced - click here for the details, or read on...

The Crimea headline the ecologically powered and typically diverse Live Stage, joined by Art Brut (art rock), HipSlinky (pop rock), Imperial Leisure (hip hop), Los Albertos (ska), Pickled Dick (the pop punk band who also recently played at GuilFest 2004), The Fades (garage punk), Without Thought (metal), Zen Baseballbat (ska punk) and Zero Cipher (metal).

The Slave2Vinyl Dance Tent will again draw from a number of genres to showcase dynamic local, national and international acts including Dark Angel, DJ Dan, Hazesrifter, L Double, Liquid Laugh, Missing Link, Project 19, Skits And Rodney and SubGiant.

The Itsy Bitsy Ambient Café provides chilled and experimental tunes when it again hosts a selection of live performances and DJs – this year you can enjoy Curfew, cut up genius DJ Yoda, Dog the Dog, Gargarin, Hyb, Mistress Tyke and Uncontrolled Substance v Random Panik.

The Acoustic Stage will again feature a wide variety of local musical and poetic talent – including Alistair Cowan (who played on the Uncut Magazine Aladdin’s Cave Stage at GuilFest 2004 on Saturday 17 July), local folk songstress Anna Neale, the Mooks Of Hazard, the Naked Lunch Crew and Selected Oranges.

The Live And Direct Stage will have performances going on while the adjacent Live Stage is in between acts, the bands performing on this eclectic stage will include the five delightfully and provocatively named 22 Arrests, Burning Virgins, Duff Muffin, Retrograde Inversion and Spontaneous Suggestion.

The EcoZone will feature a working hydrogen cell (courtesy of Future Energies), the National Trust, Badgers, South West Trains, the Guildford Environmental Forum, Guildford Borough Council and many other participants.

The ArtZone will again feature work made from recycled begged, borrowed and blagged materials. Those attending the Ambient Picnic will be able to contribute to the two key works being completed on Shalford Park: a giant jigsaw puzzle that will be made up of pieces painted on the day and a small forest of ‘palm trees’ decorated by hand prints.

For the first time, a FREE Park And Ride service that will operate between the Artington Park And Ride site and Shalford Park. There will be a drop off area for cars at Shalford Park. With reduced space for car parking space at Shalford Park, the very limited car parking will be charged a £10 FEE (in addition to the admission donation) that will go towards environmental improvements at the event. Please note: disabled badge holders and event/site vehicles with specific passes will have FREE use of the on site car park.
