This is one of the most popular annual Arts and Music festivals in the south of England attracting over 6,000 visitors. It runs from midday until 9pm.
There are four performance stages powered by ecologically sound energy sources. The Band and Dance stages provide a range of musical styles showcasing local and national acts. The Acoustic stage features a wide variety of local talent; and the popular Ambient Lounge hosts a selection of more chilled tunes and experimental sounds, live PAs interspersed with a series of diverse DJ sets.
The line-up on the Band Stage is: Reuben, Jesse James, Zero Cipher, The Parkinsons, The Lams, Don Piranha, Hooray For Me, U Turn, Esoteric, Wob, and Escanna.
The line-up on the Slave2vinyl Dance Stage is: Lil Frog, Diversion Tactics, Jazz T, DJ Decepticon, Liquid Laugh, Rusty & Miracle, Squeaky da Rixster, Subgiant, and Ben (Pineapple Tribe).
There are lots of activities aimed at children and young people, a large selection of stalls selling everything from clothes to furniture, a picnic area, craft area, countryside zone, and quiet space offering alternative therapies. Catering stalls sell food and beverages throughout the day, and 2002 saw the addition of a licensed bar from the local real ale brewery.
The Ambient Picnic sets out to inform as well as entertain. Alongside the various arts workshops for all ages, the Ecozone provides information on alternative energy and ecological solutions, environmental issues, recycling awareness and countryside information.
There's also an after-party at a club in Guildford until 2am, with tickets priced at £3 if bought at the Picnic. Headlining the after party will be Dark Angel.
