Foo Fighters pull out of Glastonbury Festival

and cancel the remaining dates in the UK and Europe

The Foo Fighters have had to pull out of their headline slot at Glastonbury Festival, there's no news yet who will replace them but Emily Eavis has said they had a contingency plan sorted for the Friday night on the Pyramid stage.

A statement from the band says, "Due to injuries sustained in Dave Grohl’s fall from the stage during Foo Fighters’ June 12 show at Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden, doctors have required the cancellation of the remainder of the band’s dates in the UK and Europe.

After undergoing surgery Monday, Dave’s full recuperation time is still to be determined.

It was previously announced that Foo Fighters’ June 14 appearance at the Pinkpop Festival and June 16 show at the AFG Arena in St. Gallen, Switzerland were cancelled. The following dates have now been cancelled as well:

  • June 19 & 20 - London, UK - Wembley Stadium
  • June 23 - Edinburgh, UK - BT Murrayfield Stadium
  • June 25 - Werchter, Belgium - Festivalpark Werchter
  • June 26 - Glastonbury Festival 2015. "

It's not yet known who will replace them, organisers have stated, "A new Friday night headliner will be announced soon."

This year's other headliners will be Kanye West, and closing Sunday night are The Who.

The stadium dates will not to be re-scheduled.

A further announcement will be made on Friday to advise ticket purchasers of the stadium concerts. The process for refunding of tickets and to report any other available information. Tickets purchasers will be contacted directly where possible and information will also be released on all available channels. Please await that release as the point of purchase will have no further information at this time.

The line-up is vast but here's a few of the other names who will be appearing over the five days - Lionel Richie in the teatime legends slot, Patti Smith & her band, Rudimental, Deadmau5, Paul Weller, The Vaccines, The Maccabees, Suede, The Chemical Brothers (live), Belle & Sebastian, Clean Bandit, Jungle, Jamie XX, Gregory Porter, Super Furry Animals, Jon Hopkins, Sharon Van Etten, Kate Tempest, Wolf Alice, Perfume Genius, Hozier, Father John Misty, Courtney Barnett, Fat White Family, La Roux, Death Cab For Cutie, Kasai Allstars, FFS (Franz Ferdinand & Sparks), Modestep, Circa Waves, Peace, Young Fathers, The Moody Blues, Florence + The Machine, Pharrell Williams, Alt-J, Motorhead, Mary J Blige, Alabama Shakes, Paloma Faith, The Waterboys, The Fall, George Ezra, and many, many more.

This year's sold out Glastonbury Festival runs for five full days from Wednesday 24th until Sunday 28th June 2015 across over a 1,000 acres of beautiful countryside at Worthy Farm, Pilton in Somerset.
