Celtic Connections announce first acts

folk, roots, world, traditional, indie, blues & jazz in Glasgow in January and February

Celtic Connections has announced its programme of folk, roots, world, traditional, indie, blues & jazz for the forthcoming festival that happens in numerous venues around Glasgow from Thursday 15th January until Sunday 1st February 2015.

The acts confirmed include Frances Black, and Kieran Goss reuntied for the first time in more than two decades, Eddi Reader, Kris Drever, Fairport Convention, Angelique Kidjo, The Royal Scottish National Orchestra, King Creosote, Tiny Ruins, Treacherous Orchestra, Michael McGoldrick, Francois & The Atlas Mountains, Lambchop, Ella the Bird, Catrin Finch & Seckou Keita, and Calexico.

Also announced today are Leo Blanco, Maggie Bjorklund, Ian Carr & The Various Artists, Manran, Hudson Taylor, Arthur Johnstone, Bronwynne Brent, Hayseed Dixie, Kathryn Tickell & The Side, Jeffrey Foucault and Amelia Curran, Chris Jarrett & Luca Ciarla, The Bruce 700 - Allan MacDonald, Watkins, Jarosz & O'Donovan, World Party, Horse, Songhoy Blues, and Tweedy featuring the Wilco frontman and his son.

Other acts revealed include Kevin Dempsey & Rosie Carson, Qristina & Quinn Bachand, The Rambling Boys of Pleasure, The Pearlfishers, Sam Sweeney, World Beat Bothy, Justin Townes Earle, The Rails, Mike Vass, Shooglenifty, Motu : Oileain, Dhol Drummers of Rajasthan, Findlay Napier, Ruth Moody, Martin Simpson, Nancy Kerr, Bella Hardy, Jim Moray, John Smith, Hannah James, Rachel Newton, and Emily Askew.

Celtic Connections 2015 has an adventurous programme embracing Celtic music's connections with musical genres and cultural traditions from across the globe. The festival brings more than 2100 artists to Glasgow to perform to more than 100,000 concertgoers over 18 days at 300 events in over 20 venues. Plus the nightly Celtic Connections Festival Club, and Late Night Sessions at The Concert Hall.
