The line-up of music acts has been announced for HowTheLightGetsIn the annual philosophy and music festival offering over 300 acts across 7 stages over 11 days. The event, now in its sixth year, is held at Hay-on-Wye in Powys, Wales from Thursday 22nd May to Sunday 1st June 2014.

Acts confirmed for the 1st weekend from Thursday May 22rd - Monday 26th on the Globe Stages are Mr Scruff, The Hoosiers, Molotov Jukebox, Smerins Anti-Social Club, Electric Swing Circus, Andrew Weatherall, Hot Chip (DJ set), Fight the Bear, The Zen Hussies, Laid Blak, Orlando Seale, Funky Dung, and Krome Angels.

Also in that week the International Stage will host Emmy the Great, Alexis Taylor, Moya, Josephine and The Artizans, Carrie Tree, and London Afrobeat Collective. The Globe Field Stage line-up will include Moulettes, Chris Difford, Alison Levi, Phildel, Emma Stevens, House of Hats, RM Hubbert, Christian Pattermore , Sion Russell Jones, Abi Wade, Kizzy Crawford, and Maddie Jones.

Appearing over the 2nd weekend Friday 30th - Sunday June 1st will be James Walsh, Sandi Thom, Sheelanagig, The Destroyers, Gypsy Queens, Toyface, CoCo and the Butterfields, Blaenavon, Polaroid 85, Gypsy Hill, Tako Lako, Jazz Morley, Maniere des Bohemiens, The Indigo Kings, Sera, Tom Rosenthal, Martha Tilston & The Scientists, Joseph Morpurgo, Deepgroove, Mista Trick, Mike Wozniak, Al Green, Phil Wang, Nish Kumar, and Rosie Wilby,

The midweek line-up from Tuesday May 27th - Thursday 29th announced so far is Ana Silvera, By The Rivers, The Roving Crows, Meadowlark, The Gabby Young Trio, Feldspar, The Golden Boys, Matthew and Me, Tantz, Jesse and the Brackish Breeze, Tom Hickox, Jack Cheshire, Gabby Best, John Kearns, Sixteen Tambourines, Sheeps, Ben Target, Liam Williams, Alex Kealy, and Thrilogy.

The 1st weekend's Acoustic Sessions will include The Anna Young Band, Melissa James, Soundstorm, Gerard Cousins, Jay Scott and the Find, Tall Poppies, 3MPH, Sally Crosby, Blind River Scare, Mouton, Climbing Trees, Midnight Rambler, George Morgan, Early Cartographers, Key Green, Dai Prichard, Georgia Paterson, Ella Janes, The Lonesome Stampede, Geraint Rhys, Rik James, Soul Urban Poet, Sara Sass, Hill Phillips, and Bob Evans.

The midweek Acoustic Sessions bill features Clare Ferguson-Walker, Brentlee, The Fireside Family, Nic Thomas, Ricky Menzies and the Storytellers, Dirty Ray, Company of Fools, Skunk Boy Project, Seren the Heron, The Shamoncies, Secrets of Kaplan, Trench Foot, Mark Montinaro, Steve Rogers, Mike Parker, Lydia Jane Pugh, Maxi Rai, Mother Bear, Watermelon Moon, Ushti Baba.

Confirmed for the 2nd weekend's  Acoustic Sessions are The Deadly, Weatherhill and Lamb, Marcus Reeves, Spoken Mirror, Hellena, HiHat Live, Sonia Hammond, Line Runners, Playing Army, Christian Pattermore & Phil Andrews, Les Coveney, Fireroad, Rob Lear, Nancy Ackroyd, Mitchell and Vincent, Emily Scanlan and What the Good Thought, McCarthyism, The Iscatels, The Bones of St James, Vina Bee, Ego Honey, Vaginapocaplypse, and The Wee Bag Band.

The first weekend's Comedy in the Ring line-up includes Sara Pascoe and John Robins, Ahir Shah, Holly Burn, Cariad Lloyd & Louise Ford, Will Franken, John Kearns, Lou Sanders, Alfie Brown, Sam Fletcher, Brett Goldstein, Jonny Pelham and Harriet Kemsley, Ian Smith, Ivo Graham, Pierre Novellie, and Kieron the Mighty.

Plus philosophers, writers, comedians, academics, and politicians. This year's theme is 'Heresy, Truth & the Future'.

Early bird Festival 10 day tickets giving access to all live & night sessions including bands, DJs, comedians and parties are priced at £78. Or £48 for the first weekend, £24 for mid week (Tuesday to Thursday), and £26 for the second weekend.
