This year's sold out event had 60,000 festival-goers see The Big 4 - Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax all share the stage on Friday night, Biffy Clyro's first-ever major British festival headline performance on Saturday and Slipknot deliver an emotional climax dedicated to bassist Paul Gray on Sunday. Other acts included Bill Bailey headline the second stage yesterday with a cover of Metallica's 'Enter Sandman' on horns, and a packed tent enjoy The Sisters of Mercy's first UK festival show in 20 years.

eFestivals will be publishing a full review and photos of the festival online for you to enjoy in the next few days.

The two main Apollo and Saturn stages of Sonisphere are always timed to ensure there's no clashes, so no one need miss any of the acts scheduled over the weekend. There are no acts confirmed for the line-up which will also include an array of other late night entertainment, attractions and on-site events alongside the fairground rides, stalls, DJs, Discos and cinema.

The event has one main arena with a stage at either end of the site, as well as a few smaller stages. The two main outdoor stages, will have around a dozen acts alternating between one stage and another to keep the music continuous, whilst not having two acts playing at the same time.
