Razorlight to headline Brighton's Shakedown

with Mark Ronson, 2manydjs, Example, Sub Focus, Beardyman, & more

Razorlight have been announced as headliniers for the new one day event, Shakedown , taking place at Stanmer Park, in Brighton on Saturday 9th July 2011.

Joining them on the main stage will be Mark Ronson (DJ set), Example, Brighton's own beatbox master Beardyman, and Freemasons.

From 2pm to midnight, the gathering for 20,000 music lovers will fill the city's most park to enjoy live sets across multiple stages including the Main Stage and a massive Dance Arena. The latter's line-up includes dance act 2manydjs will close the Dance Arena with a DJ Set, which will also host Drum & Bass act, Sub Focus, Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe, Kissy Sell Out & MC Cobra, Jaymo & Andy George, YasmIn, and Dot Rotten.

Two of Brighton's club brands De Puta Madre and Supercharged will be hosting stages showcasing the best DJs and bands Brighton has to offer. The line-up for the DPM Stage will be Riva Starr, international house double-act Prok & Fitch, techno mastermind Thomas Gandey (CagedBaby), Russ Yallop, and Yianni Dpm.

With the Supercharged Terrace line-up including Stanton Warriors, and Supercharged DJs.

Shakedown is the brainchild of music festival heavyweights Matt Priest and Peter Haywood in partnership with Brighton radio presenter Steve Jones. Between them the group have delivered a raft of large-scale outdoor festivals and concerts including Global Gathering, Godskitchen and Love Parade. The festival is assisted by Ingenious Media who bring not only funding to the project, but also a wealth of experience through their partnerships with similar events such as Creamfields, 80s Rewind, Field Day and Underage festivals.

The former Head of Radio 1 Live Events, Matt Priest, today said, "We are very excited to bring great music to such a great city. This July we will deliver exactly what Brighton has been waiting for; a world class music festival and the hottest ticket of the summer."

Councillor David Smith, Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation & Tourism at Brighton & Hove City Council commented, "Brighton & Hove has a fantastic reputation as the UK's best festival city and the Shakedown Festival is an exciting new addition to our year-round calendar. I'm sure that the event will bring great enjoyment and happiness to the thousands expected to attend from both near and far."
