N*E*R*D have been announced as the surprise guests at this week's Glastonbury Festival.

N*E*R*D
The American rock, funk and hip hop band N*E*R*D have been announced as the Special Guests playing the Pyramid Stage from 3.10-4.10pm on Friday afternoon, between Fleet Foxes and Lily Allen.

The group who feature Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo will be making their debut Glastonbury performance and they join a host of great hip hop artists playing this year (also including Dizzee Rascal, Q-Tip, Roots Manuva, Black Eyed Peas, Tinchy Stryder, Shlomo, Speech Dabelle etc).

The announcement is no big surprise as festival organiser Emily Eavis had mentioned them performing at the festival in an article in The Guardian last month. Where she was quoted as saying "There will be performances from Dizzee Rascal, the Streets and N*E*R*D, so we haven't ignored that area of music at all. But there is no point even trying to replicate the success of Jay-Z's performance last year on the Pyramid stage."

The line-up of music acts for this year has been confirmed and includes Neil Young as Friday headliner, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band as Saturday night headliner, and Blur as Sunday headliner, alongside thousands of other acts including The Specials, Lily Allen, Fleet Foxes, Kasabian, Crosby Stills and Nash, Dizzee Rascal, Spinal Tap, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Madness, Bloc Party, The Ting Tings, Lady GaGa, White Lies, Franz Ferdinand, Pendulum, Maximo Park, Paolo Nutini, Peter Doherty, The Prodigy, Glasvegas, Bon Iver, Bat For Lashes, Q-Tip, and many more.
