Damon Albarn has revealed that Blur will be playing at this year's Glastonbury Festival.

Blur
The frontman of the recently reformed band is quoted in The Mirror, (here) as saying, "Yeah, we're doing Glasto this year. We were asked last year, but we turned them down. We need a few more warm-up gigs to get back into it, ready for the big one. Glastonbury's great."

eFestivals first rumoured that the band would play the festival when they reformed in December, however Festival organisers have not yet officially confirmed the slot.

In May 2002, Coxon was asked to leave Blur early in the recording of their seventh album 'Think Tank' because of his failure to turn up and 'attitude'. Since the 2003 tour of the album, Blur have done no studio work or touring with members engaged instead in other projects.

Tickets for Glastonbury Festival held for five full days from Wednesday 24th until Sunday 28th June 2009 at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset have already sold out months before the event.

Although the full line-up for this year's Festival has not yet been announced, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band have been confirmed as one of the headliners. To see who might be playing take a look at the eFestivals' Glastonbury 2009 rumours >>.

A further release of a limited number of cancelled tickets will go on sale from 9am on Sunday 5th April 2009, although in order to do so you must have registered beforehand to be eligible to buy a ticket. However, it's unlikely that they'll be a huge number of tickets available on that day. They will be priced at £175 (plus a booking fee of £5).
