Fans have chosen Kings of Leon as the first act to be confirmed for Ireland's Oxegen.

Kings of Leon
The American rockers will headline for the second consecutive year when the annual three day multi-stage music festival weekend returns to Punchestown Racecourse, Naas, Co Kildare from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th July.

The 'Sex on Fire' chart toppers lead the poll of fans on the festival's website. The band were thrilled by the reception their performance received last year and lead singer, Caleb Followill, speaking from the stage, said, "It is a dream to play gigs like this. We consider ourselves a small band but you have made us feel so big."

The festival's organisers have vowed to continue to take fans suggestions on board and continue to make the event 'The Fans' Festival'. Further line-up announcements are expected to be made in the coming weeks.

The online newspaper Hot Press (here) are saying that an informed source have revealed further details of the line-up, and Snow Patrol, and The Killers seem certain to headline the main stage on the other two nights.

The 'Early Bird' ticket offer has now closed, and tickets are currently not on sale.
