Glastonbury Festival organiser Emily Eavis has revealed that her wish-list to play the festival in 2009 includes Radiohead, Coldplay and Led Zeppelin in an interview with the Mirror newspaper (here).

Radiohead
In the interview Emily Eavis says, "Coldplay are a great Glastonbury band, as are Radiohead, but it's really hard to say at the moment for definite who's going to play next year. It would be really good to have an appearance by Led Zeppelin too, that's one band who haven't played here."

"That would be quite a one-off. But I don't know whether or not it's going to happen...We're weighing up all the options at the moment and we should have more of an idea by Christmas."

eFestivals is aware that Coldplay were actually asked to play in 2008 but said that they would be happy to play in 2009. eFestivals also understands that discussions were underway with Foo Fighters to play next year, however Glastonbury Festival talks to a lot of bands, so this is by no means a done deal.

The article also mentions speculation that Stevie Wonder could be in the Sunday afternoon legend spot next June. Emily also says in the interview that there were no hard feelings towards Noel Gallagher, after he slated the decision to have Jay-Z headline the festival this year, saying "Oasis are always welcome at Glastonbury."

Franz Ferdinand
eFestivals also believes that Franz Ferdinand, The Ting Tings, The Travelling Band and Major Major are also expected to play the Festival in 2009.

Emily Eavis also added in the article that they were already looking for big names to play Glastonbury's 40th anniversary event in 2010. The article says that as the photo registration system had worked so well this time round, all 135,000 tickets for next year's event were going on sale next month, however there is still to be two ticket sale periods according to the festival organisers.

Tickets for this year's event were slow to sell and only sold out when the event was underway, which Emily said had prompted them to make them available early this year. Emily added that offering ticket buyers the chance to pay a deposit made it "a much fairer system" and gives people more time to save up for their tickets than just making them available to those who had the money.

Tickets for Glastonbury Festival 2009 which runs for five full days from Wednesday 24th June until Sunday 28 June 2009 across farmland at Worthy Farm, Somerset go on sale at at 9am on Sunday 5th October, but if you don't register you will not be able to buy a weekend ticket for Glastonbury Festival 2009.

If you plan to buy tickets for friends or family you must make sure they all register! All registered festival-goers will have two options. They can either buy a full weekend ticket at a price of £175 (plus a booking fee of £5). Alternatively, tickets can be reserved at a cost of £50 per ticket. The balance will be payable by Sunday 1st February 2009. With both these options, the number of tickets available per transaction for registered customers is now unlimited.

Tickets may only be purchased if there is a valid registration number for each person. For example, six tickets will require six different unique registration numbers - and the details of the six individuals associated to these registration numbers. A registration number may only be used once, which will prevent inadvertent duplicate purchases.

Purchasers are only able to use one debit card per transaction; therefore it is recommend that all money is put into one account in advance if buying for other people.

Registration does not reserve or guarantee a ticket when they go on sale. Online registration can be carried out by clicking here.

A second release of tickets will be available from 9am on Sunday 5th April 2009; again you must be registered by March 31st to be eligible to buy a ticket.

Glastonbury Festival will play host to more than 2,000 performances at 50 or so venues including music, cabaret, theatre, circus, and also has a fantastic Kids area, poetry, green crafts and information and loads, loads more.

No acts are confirmed as yet, but as usual eFestivals will bring you the very best-sourced rumours, allowing festival-goers to see who is playing long before the bands are formally announced - keep your eyes on the Glastonbury 2009 rumours, updated as we receive information.
