Headlining on Saturday night prior to the torching of a giant Wickerman is Scottish singer/songwriter KT Tunstall and appearing on the Friday night is Manchester legends, Mark E Smith's The Fall. The two acts almost complete the line-up for Wickerman's main-stage this year.
In addition to the eclectic musical offerings the organisers promise a weekend of 'fiery frolics' in a spectacular setting. Wickerman organiser Jamie Gilroy said, "These latest acts added more variety to an already diverse line-up."
Now in its seventh year The Wickerman Festival features eight stages and other attractions this year will include chainsaw juggling, outdoor cinema, mountain bike skills course, children's circus and as usual the spectacular burning of a 25ft Wickerman at Saturday midnight.
Over 100 acts have already been confirmed including live acts Dodgy, The Hacienda Tour with Peter Hook, Bez, and Graeme Park, Sham 69, Alabama 3, Zoey van Goey, De Rosa and Broken Records grab the limelight on the Solus Stage showcasing Scotland's emerging talent. Dance fans can look forward to sets from Annie Nightingale, Xpress-2 and Mr C vs Tim Sheridan. Acoustic music is provided by artists including American folk legend Dean Friedman, the Lancashire Hotpots and The Wonderstuff's Miles Hunt.
Wickerman organisers are encouraging the expanding Polish community in South West Scotland. The organisers have been successful in gaining a grant from the Council to help fund the project which will include bands from Poland in the line up.
