Glastonbury extend registration period

and deadline approaches for new bands competition

Glastonbury Festival organisers have announced they will extend the registration period, before it even opened, for those wanting to be eligible to buy tickets from the previously advertised closing date.

You can now register anytime between 9am on Friday 1st February 2008, until midnight on Friday 14th March 2008, either online at the official festival website here or by completing a registration form available from Millets.

There is to be 'no further extension beyond this date', so if you miss the 14th March deadline, you will not be able to buy a ticket for Glastonbury 2008 when they go on sale from 9am on Sunday 6th April.

Deadline for new bands competition approaches too.
The deadline for UK (or UK-based) artists not signed to a major label or publisher, wanting to enter the Glastonbury New Talent 2008 competition is also rapidly approaching with the closing date for uploading entries being 11pm on (this) Sunday 27th January.

The competition which searches for unsigned bands and solo artists and offers the overall winners a slot on either the Other Stage or the Pyramid Stage, following in the footsteps of previous winners Liz Green (2007), The Deadbeats (2005) and The Subways (2004). Over 50 performers or groups that entered the competition last year played at Glastonbury 2007.

The competition is open to This year the competition is being run online in association with Q magazine, so artists enter by uploading up to two tracks onto the competition website, where you you can also find the full competition rules and conditions.

Glastonbury Festival 2008 will take place from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th June, with the gates opening on Wednesday 25th.
