Last night when asked by BBC Points West about his aim to attract a younger audience to Glastonbury (here) he said "I'm putting on a black American headliner, who's absolutely terrific that's going to appeal to those people."
It seems that Michael has realised that the way to attract the youngsters he feels are missing from his Festival is to put on the sort of acts to attract them rather than just booking the latest batch of here-today gone-tomorrow indie/pop acts, just as eFestivals suggested to him earlier last summer. No shit Sherlock!
So who is this headliner? Realistically there's not many possibilities, and our money is on Kanye West.

When asked if Amy Winehouse would perform, he replied: "I hope so, I really, really do need her." Let's hope that Amy has sorted herself out and is back to her best, rather than her being the shadow of her previous self that gave (for her) those poor performances at Glastonbury 2007.
Eavis also said that he hoped to increase the size of the site for this year to make extra space for the campsite, although it's thought that there won't be an increase in the number of attendees from the licenced capacity of 177,500, from which 132,500 weekend tickets will be sold.
Until Sunday 27th January there's still the opportunity for new acts wanting to perform at this year's Festival to try to win themselves a place on the bill via the Festival's New Talent competition - see here for the details.
Remember to keep an eye on our Glastonbury Festival 2008 rumours which each year builds into the most comprehensive pre-announcement list of who's playing. If you get to hear of who's going to play, don't forget to let us know by emailing [email protected] with the details.
Don't forget that those wanting to buy a ticket to this year's festival will need to register their details at www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk between 9am on Friday 1st until midnight on Friday 29 February (see here for the full details). Tickets will go on sale to those who have registered at 9am on Sunday 6th April.
Glastonbury Festival 2008 will take place at Worthy Farm, Pilton, near Glastonbury, Somerset from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th June, with the gates opening for early arrivals on Wednesday 25th June.
