The Isle of Wight Festival has launched Festival First - essentially a ticket club, where membership gives a guaranteed opportunity to purchase tickets away from any mad ticket scramble.

For a payment of £75, you will be guaranteed the opportunity to buy up to two Weekend with camping or Weekend non-camping tickets during an exclusive reserved sales period for the next 3 years. While this ups the cost of each year's ticket by £12.50 if tickets are bought for each of these years (or more if they're not), it does ensure that loyal attendees will have no difficulty getting their tickets. Please note that membership and tickets bought by members are non-transferable.

However, the dates of the festival are still to be confirmed (will you be able to attend on these unknown dates?) and with the signing-up period for Festival First running from right now (this offer has just gone on sale) until 10am on Saturday 1st December, and the festival tickets going on sale for members from 10am on Monday 3rd December until 10am on Saturday 8th December 2007 (and rumoured to be on general sale the week after), these costs fall at the most financially awkward time of year for many people because of Christmas.

Whether a person feels this £75 payment is a good investment or not depends on whether you feel the festival will deliver the sort of act(s) that will make tickets like gold-dust, and whether the act(s) will be to your liking. The festival has proven its ability to deliver mega acts after having the Rolling Stones this year, but who knows? - they could be planning to surprise us all with the Cheeky Girls next year . The main rumours currently circulating include both U2 and The Police, but these could amount to nothing.

Alongside the guaranteed opportunity to purchase tickets, the festival is promising Festival First members an exclusive designated turnstile entrance to the festival site, plus other exclusive offers yet to be announced. Festival First membership will allow you to make all your travel arrangements the minute that the event dates are confirmed safe in the knowledge that you will be able to secure your tickets.

The Isle of Wight Festival takes place at Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight, with the dates still to be confirmed (but quite possibly from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th June 2008).
