Adjagas to open Glastonbury

second time lucky?

By Neil Greenway | Published:

Adjagas from Sápmi (also known as Lapland) have confirmed in a press release that they will open the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival this summer.

It is actually the second time they have received this invitation, having been unable to play in 2005 due to the huge storm which delayed the start of the entertainment on the Friday morning at many of the on-site stages and venues.

Top marks to the Glastonbury team for remembering that some acts lost out two years ago though no fault of their own, and giving them this second chance. We think it's quite likely that other acts that also suffered because of the rain will also be given another chance this time around.

Adjagas recently released their debut album "which has stunned critics for combining the traditional Sami vocal form – known as a “yoik” – with music that “sounds like Sigur Ros reared on alt-Americana” (Time Out). ". Sounds interesting!

As first revealed by eFestivals in January, this year's headliners will be The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, and The Who - check out the latest and best Glastonbury rumours. Help us to help you - if you hear of a band that's playing, please let us know.

Don't forget, to be able to buy tickets to this year's festival you need to register in advance. Registration can be done online from http://www.glastonburyregistration.co.uk/, or via normal post by either downloading the form from here, or by collecting the form at your local branch of Millets (who will donate 10p to WaterAid for every form they issue).

You can register at any time between now and midnight on Wednesday 28th February 2007. For details on the registration process click here.

Glastonbury Festival will take place at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th June (with the gates opening on the Wednesday).
