U2 at Glastonbury?

NO CHANCE!!!!

By Neil Greenway | Published:

Following the announcement of U2's European dates for their Vertigo tour, there's much speculation on whether they'll be playing Glastonbury this year after all.

The announced dates have them playing at Croke Park, Dublin, on the Friday of Glastonbury (24th June), with the Saturday and Sunday of Glastonbury free.

However, it's long believed that U2 have booked Croke Park for the Saturday and Sunday as well, and it's almost certain that shows will be announced for those days just as soon as the tickets have sold out for that first date. Tickets go on sale for their UK shows this coming Friday, and for Dublin on Friday 4th February.

eFestivals remains confident that the headliner for the Saturday of Glastonbury 2005 will be Coldplay, and that U2 will not be playing. Coldplay are known to be currently putting the arrangements together for a series of shows around the UK for the summer, thought to include a date in London in late June, and two shows at Balloch Park on the banks of Loch Lomond in Scotland on 2nd and 3rd of July.

Michael Eavis has said that Glastonbury Festival will be taking a year off in 2006, and that he's already booked headliners for 2007. eFestivals believes that it's U2 he's talking of for 2007, although the timeframe between now and then makes that far from certain of actually happening.
