  1. thats easy - when a 'new' band are out there the fact is that most people that have heard of them are their fans, and so there are not many negative views. once a band 'makes it' to the mainstream loads of people of heard them and form opinions on them. more people are always going to dislike a band than love them (think of it like politics - the majority always dislikes the party in power but their views are split on who they like)

and the nal loves top selling bands - he has pictures of coldplay on his bedroom wall :P

  2. I’m new to this site this year and have noticed a pretty common pattern on here. When people put a thread about new/upcoming bands on here they get a lot of support, but the bigger/well established/top selling acts seem to get absolutely slated (apart from Pulp they got a lot of support a few weeks back).

For me I don’t really give a toss how popular a band is, what genre they are or how many records they’ve sold, if I like them I like them.

Just out of total interest why are people pretty negative towards the top selling acts???

  3. The title of this thread is VERY misleading!!!!

But just to throw my hat in the ring, I’d love to see them at Glasto I like all of there albums & totally disagree with the boring comments on here! I seen them at my very 1st Glasto and its one of my best (hazy!!!) Glasto memories. But if I’m honest I can’t see them playing (but I hope I’m wrong!).

  4. To be honest I think the best way is to let them discover it for themselves. Part of the joy is the discovery - not being shown around. I drove my other half nuts the first time i took him because I wanted to show him this and that, and he drove me mad by wanting to wander off in a different direction every time something good was coming up! In the end we went our seperate ways for about 3 hours and when he came back he had had the best time, and totally got it, without seeing anything I would've shown him - my macho northern boyfriend returned in a hat and a skirt sying "apparently i've got an exceptionally small head!"!

I recommend the top of the stone circle view thing - just for sheer scale, but other than that I think a "bearings" walk is most useful, and then let them explore for themselves for a bit. I mean - show them the railway line (because that's the key to not getting lost in a way that just wastes time and tires you out, rather than an exploring way), & let them know some of the things that might be off in different directions from that.

Don't be tempted to show someone Glastonbury in a day - it isn't meant to be like that!

If theres any one "must see" thing that they haven't got to towards the end of the weekend - drag them there then!

  5. To be honest I think the people that come on here to get personal and are purposefully rude to people for having an opinion should be keeping well away from a place like Glastonbury. It totally goes against every thing the place stands for! I'm well up for the banter but think people should chill out a bit & stop personally attacking people!!!
