  1. I dont like buckleys cover anyway. I dont think it should be sung with all that angst. It's a triumphant song, not some emo crap like buckley makes it edit bleugh, triumphant is the wrong word, but I know what I mean!
  2. Yes it is difficult to describe, but his music has been in life since I bought Songs of Love and Hate in 1975 (I think!) and to see him perform was a special moment worth waiting over thirty years for. The performance itself was better than even I had hoped and grumpy hack has it spot on.

  3. Leonard Cohen was the reason we went to our first Glastonbury in 2008 - my partner saw he was playing and organised it as a treat for me. He was sublime and I agree with the comment above, we will never see his like again. We had such a good time that year we have been to every Glastonbury since and LC was the high point of that experience. It would be incredible if he did play this year.

  4. We went to Latitude last year and it was definitely noticeable that the site was much less litter strewn than Glastonbury is. Ok it is much smaller but a lot of it is probably due to the system of only serving drinks in cups which you buy or pay a deposit on and no throw away cardboard ones. Probably not so workable with the numbers here, but worth thinking about?

  5. A. You appear to have missed the point completely. B. I'm not sure if you're aware of the actual details of WV, but assuming you go back to your tent three times a day, you'll be spending a significant amount of time off site. Why would you go back to your tent three times a day? Once we are down from PHF for the day we stay until we want to go back for the night. So we don't lose any time at the festival. Your point is just ludicrous.

  6. I think he would be good, one of those acts you would never listen to at home or go to see in a million years but would really enjoy for half an hour on a Sunday morning at Glastonbury!

  7. This sounds great - I should have explored the other off-site options more thoroughly, I plumped for Tangerine Fields because it was cheapish and evoke Edgar Froese's old beat combo. I know at Sonisphere they have the option of staying at the local Novotel, which is certainly appealing.

You meet and chat to festival goers in the eateries, at the stages, especially the smaller ones I prefer, and pretty much every where you go in the Greenfields - not just because you are camped on top of them.

  8. Exactly Sprit of 71! I don't know why some people on here are so hung up about what other people do and how they choose to enjoy the festival. With over 100k people going there is bound to be a representative cross section of society whcih means there will be those for whom the cost of the ticket and the weekend is a budget stretcher and those for whom it is not. If people choose to spend their hard earned money getting a bit of space and more facilities then good luck to them.

  9. This seems to be one of those things which is very school specific - we have never had any trouble with our daughters' primary school, they are happy for her to miss the last couple of days of term to go to Glastonbury ( we are in Scotland so the holidays start earlier than in England). if your headteacher is intransigent then just use one of the ruses suggested above!

  10. Pennard Hill Farm have yurts ans Tipis although I don't know how booked up they are. It is the proprieters permanent home so it's not a fly by night business and they are very nice people, but it is expensive. We have rented one of their cottages for the past two years and the only downside is the slog up the hill to get back!!

  11. Totally agree with posts above, we have been taking our little girl since she was 4 (eight now) and she loves it. We went to Lattitude this year as Glasto wasn't on and we had agreat time as well with lots for her to do. Agree with efests about V, we went for a day a couple of years ago and apart from the couple of bands she wanted to see (Scouting for Girls , she was only 6!!) ther ewas nothing for her to do.

  12. I am sure there are a few venues that set up as restaurants, but the one I know off is The Rocket Lounge up in the Unfairground. Last year they did evening sittings from Wednesday at 6 pm, but you had to book as it was full up well before the festival. They ran a 1940's Jazz Club thems and most people dressed up whcih was great for the atmosphere.

  13. Now the traditional way of going to Glastonbury is to purchase a ticket and you will be permitted entrance.

That would be all well and good, if we'd succeeded in getting one.

Other ways would be volunteering for a charity there, but I'm too young.

So do people climb the fence/ dig their way in/ run in?
