Lou Reed

Every year I say - just this one and its my last one. Now I've decided: every one till I drop.
Cant imagine not going - particularly since I only live 25 miles away. This is the 30th anniversary of my first Glastonbury (yes I'm an old fart). I now go with my wife and kids in a tipi. My best mate who was due to join us as usual this year died suddenly last month so this and all subsequent ones are for him.
See you there...

2007 will seem like a desert compared to this year. I seem to remember it wasn't cold and raining for two weeks leading up to the festival, and didn't actually rain that much apart from Sunday.
-
Remember Super Furries doing Hello Sunshine Saturday afternoon and the sun was definitely out then. Rain really bad most of Sunday. Also bad during Amy winehouse Friday afternoon. Lead singer of Modest Mouse later same afternoon (as it pissed down) " You guys are so f**king STUBBORN".
this years looks like being like 2009 to me.

Surely if all else fails he can pick a ticket up on arrival. Not ideal I know - but at least he gets in. Is it me or are things falling to pieces on more than one front (Myhab, Sundrive, DX) this year?

Sadly, the reports are true.
I feel sick. Absolutely gutted.
Seen Bruce and the EStreet Band 7 or 8 times and usually position myself on "Clarence's Side" of the stage.
For anyone who may not know Bruces music or how important/good Clarence was, from 4 mins 25 on in the below video is your answer.
R.I.P. Big Man. A one off. Completely unmatched and totally irreplaceable.
The minister of soul. The secretary of the brotherhood.

Derek Scully. His influences are Clarence Clemons and the guy from Madness.

Had an offer of using a booked tipi (in the tip field) from someone who now has a spare. There's six adults going in our party and one 12 year old. Am tempted (if only because I've always fancied it). So:
Are the tipis big enough for this number?
How do the wrist bands/ entry work. Cant remember if my 12 year old gets a wrist band (think he gets a kids one) - but will there be an issue getting seven of us into the tipi field once we're in the festival?
Is it even feasible? We are all ticket holders obviously - but the person I'd be effectively buying the tipi off is not part of our party.
Any advice gladly received.
Cheers

Unclear just how big these are. If our group was six adults and one child (a lanky 12 year old mind) would we have enough room and equally would we be allowed in?

Bloody AGES to go yet. Forecast is changing daily so no need to sweat it until next Tuesday. Forecast last year wasnt much better than this at this point.
Mindyew - live about an hour away from site and if it does anything like what it did yesterday its going to make 2007 look like 2010...

Go with the Flow. Easily.

Saw him at Womad last year. Wonderful. A sad loss to music. RIP Gil.

A U2 Crowd ?

They gave it a good shot but think the rain/wind/ cold beat them in the end. We were half way up the hill and there was no-one there by about two thirds of the way through. Cant remember the pyramid being so empty for a headliner for years - especially one that had been so hyped up. Did the greatest hits bit - but always felt like it was a bit U2 by numbers. Possibly weren't helped by Moz being in a foul mood again as the prime support.
Coldplay on the other hand hit it bang on. Good weather - huge crowd, Elbow on before - no competition with the mood and the reaction the night before. And thats despite only playing "Yellow" 15 or so times with different song titles.
By the way QOTSA sooooo smashed them both its not funny...
