  1. Devildriver and God Forbid playing a warm up show on June 12th - can't remember where, but its the day that counts. So Devildriver not playing the Friday, so too God Forbid, providing they are properly confirmed.

And Skin on the Sunday - damn, that's another excellent band added to that day. I'd see everyone confirmed for that day so far - except for Papa Roach, perhaps. Its going to cause a few headaches come June 14th, that's for sure!

  2. I checked them out a while ago on recommendation. Heard 'Boneyards'. Wasn't too struck on them - I think it was one of the breakdowns in the song that put me off - I could see it coming a mile off.

Might check them out again just in case they're the best choice I've got when it comes round to them playing.

  3. In 2005 In Flames finished early to allow as many people to see Black Sabbath as possible (I think - at least that's what the laminate indicates). But never any other time have they scheduled the different stage headliners at different times.

Not fussed too much about Def Leppard and Trivium clashing, I think I'm already decided over that if that is the case. Would be gutted about the other two but hey, what can you do?

  4. Just browsed Metal Hammer for any snippets of Download-related news and came across this:

Metal Hammer --> Download Days and Stages revealed?

They seem to have Motley Crue, The Prodigy and Trivium as second stage headliners.

While they do seem logical choices, if this is true, personally I think clashing Faith No More with Motley and Slipknot with The Prodigy is another case of the organisers shooting themselves in the foot.

    Opinions?

  5. Most of the Sonisphere line-up have already done Download - at least this year Download is getting bands that, this time last year, no-one could have expected, and furthermore, most of them are actually really good! Far more varied than Sonisphere as well, the addition of top metal acts such as Down and Architects has given the festival a nice balance

I like Metallica as much as the next guy but they're in the UK every year lately for one festival or another - its not a big deal that Download don't have them, especially with the way the Download line-up is shaping up!

  6. Awesome addition to the line-up, and after they were announced for Bonnaroo I never expected them at Download.

Saw them in 2006 when they were the 'surprise' act (if you missed the t-shirts on sale on the Friday night, the badly hidden stage banner, and Kirk Windstein and Rex Brown walking across the stage and waving to the crowd!). When the lumbering intro of 'Lysergik Funeral Procession' flowed into that riff, Down had truly arrived and I was rocking out for the entirety of the set. They were one of the best bands of 2006 and will surely be one of the best of 2009.

Personally I hope they clash with Pendulum, but I'm not holding my breath!

  7. Stayed up until midnight for this announcement, snapped out of my state of sleepiness when Down appeared on the page - couldn't believe it! GET IN!!!

And Clutch, Black Stone Cherry, Journey, Tesla, Architects, Skin (who until the early hours were a distant childhood memory - awesome band), and Karma To Burn!

This festival keeps getting better and better and better.

  8. Taken from my lunch break earlier today:

    1. Trivium - Into The Mouth of Hell We March

    2. Warbringer - Total War

    3. Dream Theater - The Dark Eternal Night

    4. Agnostic Front - Peace

    5. Evile - Bathe In Blood

    6. Alkaline Trio - Mercy Me

    7. Hyades - Megamosh

    8. Anthrax - Caught In A Mosh

    9. S.O.D. - Kill Yourself (live)

    10. Cavalera Conspiracy - Sanctuary

Fair to say quite a bit of thrash cropped up in that selection!

  9. Not sure if I'll be stopping up that late for that one. If its bang on midnight, maybe, but I've done this in the past only for the announcement to be in the middle of the show at 1am. Can't be doing that when I'm up at 7am.

Oh well, can always log on when I get up and check out the official site for a (hopefully) pleasant start to the day!

  10. Hi everyone, been browsing these forums for sometime now, though I'd join up and add my two pennies to the action!

First of all, where did the Architects and Journey TBC's come from? Unable to get on MySpace from work to check out tour dates, strangely can't get on Journey's website either! Either way, if true, very pleased.

Also, Fishbone doing a date in London on 5th June - possible for Download? They played back in '06 when I stumbled upon them, would be great to have them back.
