  1. Just considering our group's options in case we aren't all successful in getting to Glastonbury this year - are there any other festivals that meet the following criteria:

    1. Non arena based (or is Glastonbury the only one?)

    2. Sizeable cabaret, circus type area

    3. Real ale (its a must!)

Thinking about Beatherder/Kendal Calling but may depend on the acts booked (unless ours is anyway!)

Beautiful Days is the festival that you're looking for.

Also, Bearded Theory imho the best festival in the country.

  2. For goodness sake! I would normally support groups of people, if they felt that they were offended by other cultures "stealing" their heritage" etc. However, I have travelled in America (sometimes off the beaten track!) and when you get Native Americans selling replica headresses in the casino's they own, the argument that they don't want non Native Americans to wear them, goes right out of the Window as far as I'm concerned!

This was posted on facebook not by me though.

  3. I'm going to try on ticket day, but they may go back into the pot later on.

I don't know if at 52 I'll be up for it. The sheer physicality of Glastonbury was a limiting factor to my enjoyment this year. I really do need to take a chair in with me, but that feels like cheating.

The line up , or what we know of it will be the deal-breaker. I have a feeling that next year will be a real classic year. But only time will tell.

If I fail on ticket day, then that's the decision made for me and I'll be elsewhere.

  4. We're keeping ours. We've had it 2 years now, and do about 5 or 6 festivals a year. Plus the odd weekend at the coast.

We might change up at some point, but we will always have a van of some sort. No going back to tents now. We're far too old. ;-)>

  5. T5's are quite reliable, and are good for 200,000 + miles. As long as it's been serviced regularly. 1.9 and 2.5 litre diesel engines are available. BHP ranges from 88-170 depending upon speck. IMHO a T5 with the 1.9 and 102bhp would be the best choice.

But if your budget won't stretch to T5 money then the older T4 is the van to go for. These vans are more than capable of stupid miles, with 500k being easily reached. The T4 is a bit more basic and as such has less to go wrong with it.

My mates T5 88bhp will return 38mpg although it's a little slow on long up hills. I have a Transit mk7 2.2lt with 110bhp and it matches the T5 for mpg, but goes up hill much better.

  6. It was nice to meet those of you who I met.

I don't remember all the names or al the faces, but I do remember that most of you were "normal" :sarcastic:which was nice.

I do remember that "Penfold" is a girl. A very nice girl at that, though maybe a little shy.

    Neils wife is a star.

Oh and some woman owes me a pint. After we had a bet on who was opening the other stage on Friday. Could be "Spacey"

So pleased to meet you all. Did you all have a good time?
