Don’t know why anyone would want him caught, as long as they don’t negatively affect other people’s festival when they’re in then good on them.

Well with the crowds as they are, any additional people just add to that and therefore do affect other people's festivals.

Also, GF need to actively demonstrate that they can successfully control the numbers in the festival. Anyone getting in by nefarious means is a genuine threat to being granted a licence in future. Then we are all doomed

  2. Strange question... Will the water refill stations refill anything for free?  We have some plastic water bottles that normally we would just refill from the taps, but can we also use them at the water stations, or do you have to buy the special cup?

Also, I know single use plastics are frowned upon, but the way I see it is, they are only single use if you only use them once!  If we keep refilling them, they by definition stop being single-use plastics

  3. What a positive response.  Definitely do it, but

    1) If donating the ticket money will help ease your conscience, maybe consider donating some to the good people at eFestivals.  After all, they all seem to be on your side!

    2) While the overcrowding issues from gate-crashers are all but gone nowadays, there are still times and areas of the site that get dangerously overcrowded.  Therefore, as somebody illegally inflating the numbers in the festival, I expect you to avoid adding to these problems and only see acts in empty tents and move between areas in the small hours of the morning! ?

  4. Did they ever introduce drug testing to Glastonbury? I can see both sides of the argument, but personally I'm all for it.

If not, just stay safe. It might feel like it but Glastonbury is probably not the best place to start experimenting with new things

Has anyone who is commenting actually listened to the song? There is no way that anyone will hear this and think, oh, I must go out and kill a Tory. They might want to kill the singer because of her annoying voice, but nobody is going to see this as anything other than a metaphor for feeling angry about Tory policies.

I agree, but I am not sure that is the point. The issue is, are songs of this nature normalising the threats of violence which have become more common in recent years, particularly over social media and the like?

It is much like Tescos don't expect someone to see one of their adverts and expect everyone to leave the house and go shopping. But what they are doing is keeping their brand in people's minds, gradually creating a theme and message that resonates with people whether they are aware or not. I can see why there are concerns about threats of violence becoming similarly subconsciously ingrained, no matter how tongue-in-cheek the original material.

Would I have removed them from the bill? I'm not sure. But what I am sure of is:

    1) The same rules have to apply for all. As much as I disagree with much of Tory policy, it is no more acceptable to threaten them with violence than any liberal MP.

    2) Whether they are serious or not, threats of violence can be very scary and damaging and nobody deserves to feel unsafe for doing their job.

    3) Given that the friends and family of Jo Cox have experienced the worst possible consequence of this, we should respect the opinions of her foundation, rather than dismissing them.

    4) Glastonbury is the greatest place on earth, with a fantastic left-leaning ethos, where effective activism and debate can flourish, without the need for violence, and the Daily Mail will never defeat that.

It's a weird one. No single act that I'm extremely exited to see but loads that will keep me happy. I think I have more clashes on the Friday so will go for that.

Well this is just about the perfect situation for Glastonbury if you ask me.  The festival is too big / diverse / magical / random to be a slave to a timetable and must see bands, so it's nice to have the freedom not to absolutely have to be anywhere.  But knowing that there's always something on you will enjoy is golden ?

Orbital for the JPT TBC on the Saturday?

Would be an awful clash with the Chems of course.

Please don't let it be Orbital in the JPT on the Saturday!!! I mean, they would be amazing, but this would just add to the absolute car-crash of the Saturday night clash-fest.  I have already got to decide between:

    • The Killers
    • The Chemical Brothers
    • Hot Chip
    • Hawkwind
    • The Damned
    • Wu Tang Clan
    • Detective Pikachu on the Pilton Palais

    The humanity!

A co-op? Have I missed something? Is it new? Sounds like a plan.

Yep - it is new for this year.  Will be selling all sorts of things on site 7am - 3am (iirc).  There is a whole thread on it in the Chat forum if you a patient/mad enough to read through it?!

Can't imagine you will get a better option than the Co-op though to meet your original request ?

Is there anywhere you cannot go at glastonbury if you are under 18 (i am 17)?

Oh, you are in for such a treat!  God I wish I was going to Glastonbury aged 17 again!!!

But in answer to your question, you will pretty much have a free run on the place.  You won't be able to get served from the bars unless you look significantly older than you are, but you will be fine drinking your own drinks if that's what you are into*

    * I would like to say that I am not condoning underage drinking... but that would be bullshit - it is brilliant!!

  11. Gutted to hear that ?

If you took out the insurance when you bought the tickets, then you should be able to use that to get your money back.  if not, then you may be out of luck.

Officially the tickets are non-transferable, hence why they include your photo.  I think your only hope would be finding someone who a) looks a little like you, b) is desperate for a ticket, c) has £200 spare and d) is willing to risk it...

A great fix for this ... is gold membership ... 2 bonuses ... the site keeps going and the spam ads and he ads disappear

I get that, but it's not much use when I can't even get to the login screen!

  13. Having serious issues with these ads this evening.  The site is unusable on my Android phone.  Tried deleting data, deleting cache, restarting phone and using a different browser, but none have worked.  And I know Gold Membership will disable the ads, but I can't even get as far as logging in without ending up in an endless spiral of junk ads, let a lone upgrade my membership/

Been able to log on temporarily using a laptop to post this, but hopefully something can be done to fix this?
