  1. Meh, giving them a miss. Have seen them 3 times at festivals, each time has been quite poor imo. Will be interesting to see the reaction they'll get though.

Love them, saw them loads but judging by their last few shows it's time to call it a day. Superhuman Lemmy is no more unfortunately. Last year's gig was bordering on embarrassment

  2. Motörhead is the absolute coup of the century, best booking in years

Sorry to piss on your parade, but they seriously lost it over the last few years. Saw them loads but last year's gig was bordering on embarrassment. Sad to say, but even superhuman Lemmy has a shelf life

  3. as I've been to the corner that is Haight/Ashbury, i can tell you that it's not very hippie at all. It was one of the bigger disappointments of my life.

The nearest it got to hippie was a Ben & Jerrys.

doubt that would have been the case had you been there in the 60ies

  4. Yep! Great speech (particularly from a man who it seems has only been once, and and isn't exactly known for his hippie ideals!)

probably not your Haight Ashbury kind of hippie, but certainly coming from that corner, even if his music suggests otherwise.

    great speech,

  5. i smoke (even more than usual during glastonbury) but i can honestly say i have never dropped a cigarette. when finished squeeze out the remaining tobacco and stick the end in your back pocket, at the next bin get rid of them. really not that hard #lovethefarm

  6. of course i will be there. one of the best live bands ever. yes their output has been average after their first five albums (but how many bands master even 2 genius, genre defining, albums let alone 5), but they ALWAYS deliver. very few things in live music beat the Ecstasy of Gold intro followed by a Metallica riff. shame about the Mogwai clash, but wether 1000 or 100000 at the Pyramid for this, it will be one of the best gigs Glastonbury has ever witnessed. trust me.

  7. saw him plenty of times recently, last at the Albert Hall. He plays blinding set at the mo with a good mixture of own tunes, reworked Zep stuff and nods to his influences. Slot/stage wise probably best suited towards the top end of the Jazz World stage. Can't wait, also bought tickets for the Glastonbury Abbey gig in August as I only got my festival ticket in the resale yesterday.

  8. i paid £ 825 for my Zeppelin reunion ticket (best money ever spent), but that was to fullfil a lifelong ambition and a unique chance to see the best band ever in action (well 3/4 of it plus the only possible substitute drummer).

Other than that it would have to be original line ups (as far as possible) of Floyd, Sabbath, Cream, Mountain etc to warrant anything in the 100+ region. Stuff like the Stones now makes me vomit. Greedy fuckers

  9. we went there on saturday night and as we were at the avalon stage entry was quite straight forward, certainly a lot better than the railway track pushing and shoving of previous years. yes its a long walk, but we were having a laugh all along and before we knew it in we where. I watched the orbital set (lush) and then went for a wander. it got more and more packed as the night went on, but i still think the queuing system works.

  10. i have got 21 months old twins, and while this year we definitely didn't consider taking them we are considering it for 2013. Having just come back from this years we are a bit undecided again. If there's a guarantee for 3 sunny or rain free days i am sure they would enjoy it. We ventured up to the kids field and had a look around, and i know they would have a blast, on the other days i don't know.

On the general point of taking kids to festivals i am all for it although it shocks me every year how inconsiderate some parents are. For me it is clear that if i take my kids to a festival, i tailor my programme around them. One particular incident that pissed me off was a woman at the Park stage during radiohead. She was right in the mix of it, her baby in the buggy screaming and she really didn't give a shit for the benefit of pretending to enjoy the gig. That's just cruel to the kids, an no parent can tell me that they can fully enjoy.

If we take ours i know i will spent most of my time in the kids, theatre and circus fields and if i see a gig at one of the bigger stages i make sure we get a nice spot at the back, where we can quickly make an exit if they can't handle it.

  11. i have been to roskilde before and it's lush. Great lineup, lots of fun with the Danes, and it's close enough to Copenhagen if you want to see something else as well. The last night i spent there was mental as lots of tents and other things got burned down, but other than that a very chilled festival that i can highly recommend.

  12. get a tent with a covered entrance bit. this way you can come home get the dirty clothes, shoes off under cover which is a lot less stressful then having to jump out of your clothes in the rain whitout messing up your sleeping quarters.

but looking at the forecasts, it doesn't look to bad. cold yes, a bit of mud,yes but nothing like the historic mudbaths from yesteryear
