Hi there...if you want to avoid Bristol then there is a route using A46 from M4 as planned, but then taking A4 and A363 to Bradford on Avon, then to Frome from there. It's not a big detour but you need to be aware that Bradford is tight in places, often clogged up, and might be difficult for a car/caravan/large motorhome.
Other than going back to the Bristol route your only other option may be to stay on M4 eastbound until J17 for Chippenham, then use A350 to Trowbridge and A361 to Frome. A bit further obvs but nothing on that roite that would be an issue to your convoy 😊
Thanks very much for the reply. Just looked at route on Google maps and I’m happy with that.

If you are heading to the festival from North of the M4 and intending to route through Bath using A46/A36 to Frome then you need to be aware of the Bath Clean Air Zone and potential charges that may apply to you.
Full details at the link below but basically if you are driving anything other than a car or motorcycle (but note that some classes of cars and 4x4's are also chargeable) then you may be liable to pay a charge. The most likely category to be liable will be vans, pickups, LGV's, campervans and 4x4's.
Charges apply 24x7 and can either be paid up to 6 days in advance, or in the following 6 days.
If your vehicle is chargeable then avoiding it is still possible but will require a diversion round Bath to do so.

Cheers for the heads up as our group were planning on doing this route.
My car is exempt, and I presume I shall be fine towing a caravan. Although friends of ours will be in a rented motor home which I believe weighs more than 3.5t (hope this doesn’t fall into the trucks category charged at £100).
Do you have a suggestion on the route to bypass Bath? We initially chose this route to avoid travelling thru Bristol.

Surely it’s Glastonbrie? don’t wanna upset the locals

If nothing has been sorted, a friend of mine has a spare East campervan ticket

Similar situation, but we're staying in the campervan fields. I assume it'll be the same process?

Thanks everyone

Thanks for the replies... that's put my mind at rest.
Any tips on keeping the ticket safe? I've heard a few people say keep it in the lanyard pouch. I'm still not sure about this, as I could lose it when I'm checking band/stage times, especially after a few beers!

We're staying in the west campervan field for the first time this year and we'll be arriving Tuesday afternoon. I'm led to believe that this field has its own access gate to the festival site.
How do we go about picking up our wristbands? Do we have to join the main queue? Or do we have our own wristband pick up station..
We're hoping to access the site early as we have friends who are camping on site, and we're bringing camping equipment for them.
Thanks

Good Question, I'm currently in Saudi Arabia for work, not by choice...Anyway, I tried last night using the hotels wifi but got nowhere. If I did get through, would I be classed as an overseas customer even though my address is registered in the UK?
Secondly, is it best to use a VPN?

Nice feature in today's Guardian Guide. Some good stories from various musicians that have played and attended Glasto over the years.
Shame about Plan B being included in it. He's just talks about setting fire to his mate (which apparently was really funny), smoking heroin, moaning about not having a Winnebago and generally being a tit. Couple of my mate's saw his minders kicking the crap out of some poor guy at Shargri-La whilst he just stood around watching. God I hate him.

New to the board but can't seem to find this discussed. I'm sure it is somewhere. Is it possible to re-enter the festival after you enter.
Thanks for the help

The Tesco delivery man is my favourite guy this evening. He has just delivered me:
48 cans of Thatchers Gold
1lt Validvar Vodka
2 bottles of ropey tesco red bull type stuff
2 packs of Fig Rolls
2 bottles of water for decanting
My only problem is that the cans have come in 12x 4 packs rather than 2 crates- any ideas for securing them together....? x

I would drive down with all his gear, let him go on the coach without having to lug anything other than a few cans for the journey, and then meet up in a car park somewhere. He'll have a great time :-)
It would make it far easier on the way home too.

It does seem to me that during a 'damp' festival there's more camaraderie between between festival goers. Strangers helping others. Its also a great leveler. No people walking around with a chip on their shoulder as everyone's in the same boat. Covered in mud

Last year whilst watching Dizzee at the Pyramid, some geezer pissed in a pint cup thinking he was great, then proceded to throw it forwards. About 50 people around him including me all saw what he did and told him how out of order he was and that he wasn't at V. He then came to the realisation at what he had done, apologised to everyone and stomped off. This is the only time I have saw piss thrown. Only @Glasto!!

The issue for me is that I was planning on going through Bath this way.
