  1. Anyone know how the free residents tickets thing works? i know if the resident doesn't want thier ticket they can transfer the ticket to a friend or family member, does that person need to be a "local" as well or can they transfer to anyone? is it a case of filling a form in and thats it or is it more complicated? i may have the chance of one but not sure of the procedure, i will go for a ticket in the re-sale if it is a pain to sort out? thanks in advance to anyone that may know how it works or has done it themselves before!

  2. Friends of mine will be running a pub very very close to Glasto this year, they want to provide things that festival goers would want to use and find useful, anyone got any thoughts i could pass on to them? i have suggested a few things but was interested what others would find helpful?

They already have plans for a breakfast bbq and portable bar in the car park for people to use while waiting to get in.

  3. He has played Reading, given that Glasto is much more diverse and has a lot more stages and performance areas than Reading/Leeds then i see no reason why he couldn't play Glasto somewhere!

  4. I don't entirely agree with that, especially since the release of his new EP. I thought Love, Ire and Song was better than Sleep is for the Week, but then Poetry of the Deed was a big let down and definitely his worst yet overall (despite a small handful of stand out songs). The new EP bodes well for the new album he's recording next year, although I'm a bit concerned that my least favourite song on the EP (I Still Believe) is the only one from it that will be included. Some of the new EP reminds me of his very early stuff (Rock and Roll Romance for example), and I absolutely love Pass It Along.

  5. i also loved White campsite, defo going in there again next year. it was full of really nice folks and no idiots at all. Lively enough to have a laugh but you also got some kip easily as well. the walk didn't bother me at all, good decision made for sure!

  6. They were immense, band of the weekend for me. i wasn't sure if it would work on such a big stage but the chemistry with the whole band was there to see and they played an excellent set, full on energy and they all looked thrilled by the whole occassion. Top stuff!!! If they carry on great, if not then its a hell of a high to effectivly go out on, who knows hey!

  7. I am still mulling over GNR's set at Reading. The hours lateness cetainly didn't help Axl's case, first tune IMO sounded awful from him, out of breath and stuggling to hit notes, it was such a shame. maybe lack of warm up as to be fair his voice did get better the further through the gig it went.

We all know how temperamental Axl can be but the delay and subsequent need to blame anyone and everyone else for having the plug pulled on the sound apart from him and his own band was embarrassing to watch. Axl you aren't the rock n roll force you once were, the hissy fit and sit down tantrum at the end proves the ego of Axl has massivly overtaken GNR as a name itself, more so than ever before, to a point now where you have to think time to call it a day.

Don't get me wrong tho I do however think the band he has assembled are massivly massivly talented and i really enjoyed the music, they sure can play. Richard Fortis(?) is f**king amazing guitar player, and DJ Ashba really really kicked the ass out of some of those solos, to me as a band they outshone the supposed "star" by a country mile!!!!!

It was just such a shame seeing Axl really f**k up all that was great and good about GNR with his stupid ego, i love GNR, old and new line ups. That to me isn't the issue, Reading's show to me descended into an embarasssing farce, if he carries on like it then what little credibility the name GNR has left through its legacy of some amazing songs is in danger of dissapearing completely, that truly will be a sad day. Finish this world tour Axl and do the honourable thing and leave the classic songs to be classic songs, and just give it up.

I know this sounds like a right slagging but i guess it was a band i hugely loved and i was really looking forward to seeing them friday...it just was such a big big let down. i saw them on their last UK tour around 2005 i think and then it was so much better, Axl seemed to give a shit about it all, clearly at Reading the ego massage for him obviously wasn't big anough, lets hope the pay cheque was!

  8. thanks, i looked around for official info and it seemed that one place said you could pay on the gate and another said only pre paid passes will allow cars into white.

yeah i know they have been on sale for ages, mytravel plans have changed so i am now driving, cheers for the info!

  9. I was wondering if anyone can confirm if you can pay for parking on the gate for white car park? The info i have read on the official site and forums seems to conflict. one says you can buy on the gate and some says you have to pre-pay? anyone know for sure?

  10. From the sounds of it i don't reckon there's anything that would attract any of the pyromaniac kids over to white. I think the fact that a lot of people who will be camping there are doing so because they're fed up of the trouble in the main campsites means anyone would be pretty brave/stupid to try anything. Also, with the campervan field, myhabs and tangerine fields being in white there must be extra security.

It's such a shame that people feel the need to set fire to things in order to enjoy their last night. I know it's always been a bit of a tradition with reading but not to the extent it is now. When i first went in 2000 the most that happened was a few toilets getting pushed over and generally being a bit noisier!

Sure the kids will be fine.... i'm hoping it's gonna be more of a glastonbury vibe across the river :)

  11. my first time in white this year as well, i spent one year in red and then went in green last year which was a nightmare with the amount of utter morons burning stuff and rampaging. not my idea of fun! no one else will move to White with me so i will be on my todd but quite frankly it's worth it to have a bit of kip without wondering what the idiots are going to be up to every night!

  12. Frank is awesome, end of chat! Managed to see both his sets at Glasto, missed him in Strummerville tho as i could not find the bloody place! Ah well, seeing him at 2000 Trees Festival soon anyway!
