  1. So cloudy Wednesday, raining Thursday, raining and cold Friday with extra heavy rain from time to time, rainy and cold Saturday and rainy and cold on Sunday.

    Great!

16 degrees C on Friday is not cold.

  2. U2 was tough... I suppose, but all I thought was "yeah, some water is coming down and I've had millions of showers at home in my life, so whats the difference!". At that moment - I didnt give a toss! ;-)

  3. Just to mention 'shorts' as a few people seem to regret packing them if its gonna rain.

I'll still mostly be wearing shorts as I doubt its actually gonna be cold and wearing longer things just means there is more to get wet.

Shorts are fine in mud and/or rain

  4. To be fair it was reasonably solid rain, not exactly 'bouncing down' but I did groan quite loudly and dive into the tent for a bit for a nap.

Then got the waterproofs out and went to see Dry the River and had an ace evening.

I have to agree. I;ve got video of my soaked at our campsite and that rain really did come down a fair bit last year.

And just as a side note: Dry The River were my fave thing at Glasto last year!

  5. Here is a dose of positivity:

I got walking and hiking all the time and I only ever rely on 1 certain android app for the weather. Its just uses met office data but is correct 90% of the time - and thats the best anyone can expect.

I do however check the BBC weather just for checkings sake and I can tell you without any uncertainty that their 5 - 10 day forecast is completely pointless.

You should all have probably figured out now that they put clouds, a raindrop and sunshine throughout their 5 - 10 day forecast merely to cover all bets. They have been doing this for yonks and do it for all over the country.

Ignore the raindrops on the BBC 5 - 10 forcast (as of today) as its just a ridiculous way of them announcing "we havent got a clue right now".

Seriously folks... they've predicted cloud, showers and sun for the whole of the festival - in other words they've predicted there will be weather, so don't waste your time and anxiety on looking at the BBC forecast right now.

This is the BBC 5 - 10 forecast of right now:

And this is what it should look like:

  6. I was at a beer garden on Sunday and overheard a guy say to his mate "yeah, well my lad and his mates just leave all their gear there, not worth bringing anything home and he reckons the stewards clean it all in a few hours on the last day anyway".

He was talking about Glastonbury as I heard the 'G' word a few times.

This obviously isnt the mentality to have, and with great images coming out of the webcam and from peoples trips to the festival site a few weeks ago, and also the exciting photos coming from offical website... lets remember please not to leave the site like the apocalypse on Monday morning.

Please post your own photos of the Monday devastation to remind everyone how not to leave the site. A picture paints a thousand words - so lets not forget how bad the camping areas look when people have left what they had brought and just walked away.

Take your stuff home folks. :banghead:

  7. Love the manics and have seen them about 6 times now and cant wait for the Glasto set.

Just checked out the new single and wondered what manics fans thought of it.

I've only give it 1 listen but I'm really confused by it.

Its quite bland really and although I kinda accept the manics have been a little formulaic - they've always been a hit for me, but this track somehow misses the spot, possibly for its boring build up. I dunno really, I cant say its a great pop song or a great manics track as I just feel it doesnt have any heart.

But my real problem is that the chorus and last third of the track was really toe tapping and I have a feeling that this is one of those tracks (like alot of manics tracks) that will grip onto me and not let go.

The energised volume of the last third has got me confused now and I dont know whether to be disappointed or pleased I got some toe tapping on a first listen.

Anyone else got thoughts on this track and is it the shape of things to come for the new album?

  8. I'm calling Poe on this one.

If not then to the OP, if you come into a forum and post what you must have known to be a somewhat controversial veiw you can't really expect not to be insulted, and tbh it was a pretty tame insult. As a mod on another forum once said, if your goining to poss into the wind then make sure your wearing a good raincoat.

  9. wow, this is incredible.

So I was borderline offensive and I was insulting because I said Jay-Z didnt deserve to be on a list with those I consider as greats.

I think some on her are forgetting I was not speaking about this person Jay-Z, I was speaking about his 'music'... and I've been borderline offensive and insulting becauseI don't think he should be listed next to Paul McCartney? wooooooooow. This thread is getting more interesting.

I think The Beatles are superb... but if anyone said they were rubbish and were nothing compared to Jay-Z then I certainly wouldnt feel offended and certainly wouldnt class it as an insult.

This really is comical now but is no longer worthy of my time as some of the arguments put forward on here are just ludacris. (see what I did there, I used a rappers name instead of the word ludicrous. I hope that didnt offend anyone. chill out anger heads) :-)

  10. If you make a stupid and ignorant post, why are you expecting better back from other people? What goes around comes around.

It seems to have passed you by, but you managed your own name calling - tho not to an individual, instead to a whole genre of music.

Just because you believe your eloquent name-calling to be more intelligent and clever doesn't make it any less the name calling. And it doesn't make you more eloquent, intelligent or clever either.

  11. So when you next start a thread, just let everyone know in advance that you only want people to laugh and agree with you, and that as a very last resort you will permit them to disagree with you, but only in a really polite way.

  12. I'm not going to call names, but I would argue that dismissing an incredibly diverse, popular and influential genre as 'not music' isn't really in the Glastonbury spirit either.

Jay-Z is clearly one of the more notable headliners in recent years, irrespective of what you think of quality.

  13. right, so the Glastonbury spirit is all about going along with your bigoted view that a rapper can't be talented?

It's good that you cleared that up for us, else we wouldn't be able to have a good time next month in Pilton.

  14. Can't tell if you're trolling or just thick. Isn't it the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts? I'm no Jay Z fan but it's fairly evident that he's a talented rapper, producer and much-loved performer who's achieved global acclaim and millions of records sold. As far as I know his set went down really well with the crowd. People enjoy other acts than singer-songwriters and guitar bands, y'know.
