Before this announcement I’d have said 40% chance of it being resolved, now that it’s coming much earlier than expected - coupled with the tone of the RMT statement - makes me think the chances are much lower than that.

The exact details won’t be confirmed until closer to the time but if 20% of services will run that that will most likely be heavily be made up of cargo services. Managers have been in scab training for months but there only so many of them to go around so any passenger services which go ahead will be ‘at risk’ right until the moment they actually depart.

And of course any infrastructure issues which pop up with signalling issues etc during the strike days won’t be able to be fixed until the next full working day, because track maintenance is one of the key departments in the dispute.

TL;DR - make other plans if there’s any way anyone can.

Thank you for insightful, constructive info then. Gonna play it out a few days then make a decision on alternative travel. Just gonna have to by the looks of it.

Man. I wish it was just the weather we still needed to worry about. We were at the last hurdle 😭😂

Honestly it’s taken us in the industry by surprise too - the expectation was that they’d strike during the Commonwealth Games seeing as almost the entire national train network runs through Birmingham, so 21st June is a lot sooner than we’d prepared for. There are still two weeks to resolve the issues which is plenty of time if the government and TOCs engage constructively.

Totally understand the reasoning for it all and I hope it is resolved to save much grief and inconvenience to everything and everyone involved. If we had a % chance of it being resolved whats our chances?

BBC also say a 5th of services will still run so there is still trains on?

We have a self-drive minibus +van going down from Glasgow on the Tuesday with 2 spare seats 🙂

Thank you so much for the generous offer but got another 15 mates as well taking train on Tuesday so unless we can sit on the roof 😂

Thinking of now going down Monday 20th but just in that state thinking surely a deal will be struck.

It was supposed to be a negotiating tactic, but the fact they’ve skipped straight past an overtime ban and gone straight for the jugular is pretty bad news.

That does not sound like the news anyone wants to hear then. Shit balls.

This has pissed right on our campfire and with only 2 weeks to go man 😭

  5. Supposed to be travelling down from Edinburgh on the Tuesday morning 😭

When we finally do get on the farm it will taste even sweeter. They’ve really thrown it all at us eh.

Who knows about this kinda shit? Is a deal likely to be struck? Will it actually happen or is it really the case anyone planning to use a train on Tuesday should really look at other means and ways immediately?

Is that supposed to be the glade dome? Not very dome looking if so.

Its apparently the new Glade stage no? The Glade dome is where the Glade used to be haha. Why they’re changing it (budget cuts if thats true) we might never fully know. Wonder if they can’t afford the stage the Glade usually is and thats the reason.

Dixon is no longer showing on the lineup, he was listed on the Gas Tower but nowhere to be found now unfortunately!

My mate noticed he didn’t have Glastonbury on his tour dates on an instagram post last week and raised the question. Also he was only playing an hour and 15 mins so probably decided it wasnt worth it (what a fool)

Really skeptical on Solomun turning up as well with his tour dates. I’ll just need to manage to stay in Shangri La till 4-6am on the Saturday to find out. Gonna be some shift that.

  8. The new Glade stage doesnt seem too BIG eh??

Surely they won’t have sides on it? Part of the greatness of the Glade was always how open it felt especially when it was under the tree’s.

What are people saying for the missing slots on Arcadia?

I don’t post much on here but always watching and whats happened to the Aphex Twin rumour? Or The Chemical brothers?

Seen someone seem quite certain of this a wee bit ago.

  10. Greenpeace stage has a few sneakys on it. Mella Dee, Plump DJ’s and Roger Sanchez to name a few more DJ’s in an absolute melting pot already is across the site. Stacked this year it really is.

I'm more concerned from that flyer he is suppose to be in Italy on the Saturday until midnight and Ibiza on the Sunday night.  Surely he isnt flying by private jet from Italy in about 4 hours?

Probably all easily done with a private jet no?

Probably wont play Pacha till about 2am on the Sunday/Monday morning.

  12. Not posted for a while but just noticed Solomun is listed on this poster Mutado posted. He isnt on the one Shangri La posted up. He’s a massive name for Shangri La if true.

  13. This has been burning in my head and dunno if anyone has asked but if Fleetwood Mac played, and it was the band still without Buckingham, would that be still be hugely appealing to the wider masses??

  14. Got to say a huge thanks to so many in here. Just reading others in the same boat over last few days has been comforting. It's been a hard week eh. It was to be my tenth year in a row this year and after failing for tickets in Oct. Then the resale I then managed to get a volunteer spot with Oxfam. I couldn't believe it but I had just spent 6 weeks off work with a broken wrist ?I then herniated a disc in my back as soon as i got the cast off haha so i had been off work 14 weeks. I had to make a huge decision to give up my Oxfam spot. I couldn't risk my job and my health but it was the hardest decision I felt i ever had to make.

Theres usually a group of about 20 of my pals go but this year only 4 managed to get tickets so it woulda been weird in a smaller group and having to volunteer but it would of still been Glastonbury. But It's nearly over now folks so tomorrow we all go back into the same boat. This year was just a warm up for next year anyway.

I best let my friend know then before he ends up travelling all the way to nottingham or something haha!

Yeah man haha get him to email Oxfamfest team. They can take up to 3 days to reply but they will get back to him.

There is also very limited number of training options left between now and the festival... you have to do the training or you cant work.

Think there is Oxford/Leeds 1st June... Nottingham 11th June... not much other than that

I emailed Oxfam regarding this as I’m in Scotland and with work etc I couldn’t make any of the training options there. They emailed back to saying loads in same boat and they’d be opening up online training. They said they’d be in touch with dates.

They ended the email with basically saying relax, yer going to Glastonbury.

Also anyone else trying a few of my mates managed to get places the last day or two. You have to basically constantly refresh and bring the drop down menu up. Refresh, then drop down and places appear each day but it is time consuming.

  17. Randomly checked the Oxfam page today and low and behold. Glastonbury was available. Happy days. Just got a slight issue with making the training. I'm up in Scotland and the training courses left were Birmingham, London and Bristol and i wouldnt be able to make any of them due to work etc. I've called Oxfam today to ask what can be done so someone is apparently  getting back in touch. If nothing can be done well it will be a real shame but a heads up if i can't do it then the place i have will go back online.

  18. Cheers guys. Ive always been fortunate enough to always get a ticket since 2008 but from what Ive seen on here year in year out if you really wanna be at Glastonbury most people always get there and the help people provide on here is amazing.

It's likely that Oxfam had a flurry of cancellations from people who got lucky in the resales.

It could open again as it's still before the 6 week cancellation deadline but I doubt many more people will cancel now.

Best to keep a check on here and there's also a Facebook group for Oxfam Festivals Team where people may post about more spaces.

    Good luck!

Cheers dude, this forum is full of many kind people cheers for that info. I don't do facebook but i suppose it becomes a handy tool for situations like this. A huge group of about 30 mates all tried in Oct. No avail. Then when resale came round most people had planned and booked different things. When it came to resale there was only 8 of us still wanting to try. One group got through on resale and the group i was in didn't so pretty gutting. I'd given in to defeat but this Oxfam thing popping up has given me desire to still want to go so just need to keep an eye on any secret sales and keep refreshing Oxfam ?

  20. Sitting pretty gutted i had the payment/deposit screen for Oxfam volunteering in my hand and hesitated due to not knowing the training set up (getting time off work etc) and then missed out. I've been 9 years in a row and i'd fair enjoy doing the Oxfam helping out side of things and see the festival from a different light. Amazing to the poster who made people aware of it and managed to get them in.

Was that a rare thing them opening the application thing up this morning? Chances of it happening again? It would be a case of just refreshing it all the time and getting lucky i suppose but i'd imagine places would appear again. Anyone with any knowledge on this?

I may be wrong since I don’t have to do one this year, but I think most of the in-person training sessions have passed. When I did it in 2016 there was a small on-site training session on the Wednesday for folk that got their app in late though.

So basically it would be a case of potentially training on site?? That would be absolutely ideal. Just need to keep an eye if more positions come up now. You need to be on it like an absolute hawk!!

I don't have the list, but usually various dates in decent sized cities around the country (England, anyway - I've heard Scotland is a bit absent) and occasionally an online option.

Thank you for your reply. I had the page up to pay deposit for stewarding but i hesitated due to not knowing the training situation and getting extra time off work to do that. Thats the only issue i have.

  23. Missed on tickets for the first time in 9 years. Been keeping a close eye here and the Oxfam volunteering thing which i would love to do. Whats the deal with the training etc?? When and where does that happen?? Just if more spots come up i know what the deal is.
