1st time we did A303, B3151 through somerton street and glastonbury
Last year as I came thursday afternoon I did M4/M5 A39
Both worked, but are rather a detour!!
No idea what queues are like now with the early car park opening

Hello you lovely people,
it's just under 3 weeks away until Glastonbury's gates open and I'm in a right pickle.
I lost my job 2 weeks ago and was praying that I'd find another pretty quickly (which I didn't).
I have no savings at all and I'm absolutely skint, I have no money what so ever to go to Glastonbury with nevermind all of the things I need to buy before setting off to Somerset. I was hoping that you fantastic people could possibly give me some advice on how I can do Glastonbury with no money or ways that i can get money quickly I've racked me brain and I'm no closer to finding a solution.
Help Me

i'm so excited that i'm not working at all...EVER! i just either work on my lists of things to buy, things to pack, or i'm on here reading and posting
i think all those delays last year were exacerbated by the fact that everyone wanted to be in for the football, hopefully we wont see a repeat of that...

I will be getting my first glimpse of the sight from my coach window
-
Either still queuing or dashing across dairy and park home to pennards to find
Dashing? me? no - walking rather slowly more like
-
With a bit of luck parking up on West Car Park and assessing the way in for tomorrow. Wonder if anyone will be in the queue already?
-
I will be arriving and camping on my own, but being part of CT meand I will not be lonely I am sure
3rd Glasto for me (1st was for my 50th ). My mate will be there but with her extended family, so I'd rather camp elsewhere
Looking forward to meeting people at CT and at the cider bus meets

In 3 weeks time I will be about to start lunch break followed by 2 hours of teaching and then running out of the building at 3:30 screaming in joy and hapiness, home to pack the car and think about setting off for a night in the west car parks
-
Weather will also have a big influence on peoples arrival time and queue size.
It seems to me that camping in Park Home has all the advantages of Pennards, and might be a better solution for those arriving a little later? It is only separated from Pennards by a track isnt it?

I will HAVE to do 2 trips as I am not young and fit and last years trek from car park nearly finished me off.
My plan is to take tent, chair, tea making kit and a light rucksack, to see me through the day, then go back later for the rest.
I have read that it is worth leaving it a giid while before going back out through Gate D, so will have to see how that pans out!
Unfortunatley I have to leave sunday evening (teaching 9am monday morning ) So my plan is to take one load sunday mroning, and a second load early evening, allowing me to return for QOTSA

Just to say if there any ahem "mature" females (undefined) who would like to swap mobiles so we can support each other during this meet (and the festival as a whole) just pm me!! I have heard from 2 other "mature" ladies on their own already

Might I recommend , who are very welcoming and you should be able to find people on your wavelength among them.

I'd built that Muse set up so much in my head and wanted to enjoy it soooooo much, but between all the madness, the crushes, the surges, the security blocking the view and what honestly felt like every person in the crowd getting pulled out over our heads (and managing to boot us in the face while that happened) I came away feeling a little sad. I certainly have unfinished business with Muse, put it that way
I enjoyed it but I dunno I guess with all the rumours of having Orchestra with them and such I built it up to. It was good for me, great even but really just another Muse gig plus the Edge. (But kind of special because its at Glasto ) I have very mixed emotions about it. One things for sure it was memorable
I have LOVED Muse and seen them many times - best was in Royal Albert Hall - fab acoustics, but that last album really left me feeling meah, and then saw them at O2 arena which is so huge that I didnt enjoy it at all :(
We watched Muse from the hill, and much as I love the old sing-along muse songs my favourite that night was streets with no name, and yet I would have said that I liked Muse much more than U2. It is for that reason that I do want to see U2 this year, but whether I will cope with the crowd and the size of Pyramid stage remains to be seen!!!
Love the pics though
Edit
I was at The Park for Biffy in the afternoon, and we wandered up through circus area, stopping off for dinner, hence ending up at the back of Pyramid, just in time for the end of Scissor Sisters.
There were a LOT of kids up where we were, so I dont think I'd do that again

heeheehee you say that now...... but when your phone wants a charge or you fancy a shower that runs at more than a trickle you'll love that fact that I did ;-)

4in1 jumpstarter/aircompressor/light/12v charger. £25 off ebay. blows up airbeds, lights your tent, and if you have a cigarette lighter charge attachment will also charge your phone. If you also buy an inverter for £2 to £7 then you can also plug in anything with a 3 pin plug, including straighteners, low watt hairdryers, even laptops. We bought one to power our 12v shower and charger our phones, as it was cheaper than buying juice packs for my iPhone and extra batteries for the other arfs phone. And it works a treat.

Wondering whether its worth the trek to be rammed in at Pyramid field for U2, and DEFINITELY avoiding mumford on Other.
Maybe I'll be at Spirit of 71 for the Crazy Mr Brown?

An acquaintance of mine DID get searched last year, and DID get her foundation and small mirror taken away from her. Considering that she is 40-ish it seemed a bit jobsworth to do so. I have no idea why they were singled out for a search, they do not look unduly suspicious, PLUS it was their first Glasto, just unlucky I guess. Thankfully they had such a good time they are coming again!
So, the moral is dont get searched, or transfer to plastic bottles just in case.

Yeeha! half term - I can now plan several shopping trips and start makeing lists and piles of stuff - I love the planning
Tips on using your coolbox.

I unearthed my cool box from last year, and found some plastic bottles to which I had added salt, as salted water freezes at a lower temperature. Not sure where I got that idea from, but does anyone know wether salted water freezes at a lower temperature than freezer packs?
Most of the contents of my cool box will be liquid - OJ, water, milk, wine - no food at all
