Leaked Primavera Sound lineup, so... Blur has another date on their tour and I see some other interesting names on here 👀

not a leak but fanmade, right from the PS forum in here - still it's based on rumours so all names are kinda likely to happen

  2. ok no announcement, but will Leaks crush my dreams...again?

six headliners that would kinda make sense:
Billie Eilish / David Guetta / Blur / Red Hot Chili Peppers / The Strokes / Sam Smith

six undercards I'd love to hear:
Cigarettes After Sex / girl in red / Kavinsky / London Grammar / Fred Again / M83

six other names from 2020 lineup because it was goated and I'm still not over it
FKA Twigs / Daughter / Of Monsters And Men / Keane / Empire Of The Sun (not officially announced but Leaks confirmed them here) / Tom Walker

  3. also, I've never seen The Weeknd's name mentioned here, he's one of the most successful artists on the planet right now and he'll tour European stadiums (maybe he won't do festivals but who knows) next summer, it would be a great booking in my opinion and it would also be a kind of a wink to an hip hop headliner, since 2022 edition totally lacked one

about that hip hop headliner, I'm not really into the genre so I can't say for sure, but Travis Scott has been announced for iDays in Milan today for the end of june - his name is pretty controversial for what happened in Houston and I don't know how much Sziget organization cares about that, but he's around as well

  4. about that EDM headliner, assuming there will be one
from 2016 on Sziget booked David Guetta, The Chainsmokers, Kygo, Martin Garrix and Calvin Harris.

the issue with EDM is that the scene is basically revolving around the same names since 2013, and very few acts reach in bringing something new to the scene and none of them gets the popularity the big names Sziget usually books as headliners (eg Fred Again, Rufus Du Sol, etc)

the only actual "big" mainstream edm acts that haven't been booked recently are Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren and Swedish House Mafia

I've read Armin's name here, but I honestly think his reach in the mainstream is almost non-existent and that's why I'd rule him out

SHM are very popular in the scene, and in 2023 they'll tour festivals - that said, I honestly think they ask for a way bigger setup than other djs and in 2022 their tour went pretty badly, their album flopped commercially (the cancellations that someone mentioned here were due to low ticket sales) and I can't see them actually happening (might be wrong here)

with Leaks confirming that Chainsmokers won't be there and ruling out Calvin Harris for sure and I think Kygo and Garrix as well, I think they'll book either Tiesto or David Guetta, the only two somehow still capable to top charts in 2022 and kinda evolve their genre (thanks to other artists coproducing for them ofc)

they also might do something unexpected and move towards a (slightly) more underground headliner such as Paul Kalkbrenner, Eric Prydz or deadmau5, I'm not seeing that happen but it would be a nice surprise

Also, I've looked "everywhere" I think of, and there's absolutely no sign of Calvin Harris or Major Lazer.. ! Are they waiting for announcing all at once, or aren't they available for 2022.. ? If they're not here anymore, Sziget clearly have space for headliners, because I don't think there'll be "only" 6 of them

DJs usually don't announce tour, Swedish House Mafia was a very isolated case. Also, most EDM festivals announce their lineups way later than other festivals, while clubs can announce acts even very few months/weeks before - those stuff combined gets you why you can't see loads of dates for those two acts (or any other dj whatsoever)

Marshmello was announced for Fm4Fequency festival in Austria for this year and he will probably be sawpped to next year, and dates for Fm4Frequency for 2022 is 18-20 August.

Mashmello was also announced for VOLT festival in 2020 so Sziget might take him off the Volt's lineup and switch him to Sziget 😶 (I hope not 😬🤞🏼)

as an edm fan, I'd truly suggest NOT to look at that shit ranking

  7. guys, if you're not that much into edm, you should know that for (most) djs it doesn't work like it does for other acts. while a common band has a troupe, loads of trucks full of equipment and everything else, so it's smart to rule them out if they play in the us weeks before/after the festival, a dj travels with few people (usually never more than 7/8) and only needs his computer and some flash drives. stage stuff and console are brought by the festival itself. that's why you should never rule out a dj (unless he's doing a gig on the other side of the planet the day before)

btw, if there's space for only one EDM headliner, I'd keep Calvin Harris, or maybe Swedish House Mafia - The Chainsmokers and Marshmello are both huge, but goes too hard for a common european crowd, they're more suitable for the US tbh
