Nadine Shah and MGMT on my list for today. Any others worth a listen??

Red Rum Club at the top of my list from todays releases. Also planning on giving Royel Otis a listen from last weeks.

  2. Enjoying the new Cast album - good return to form. Have listened to TANGK twice and its not hit the spot yet. Some good moments within it - hoping it will grow with a few more listens.

  3. Here’s my top 10.

    1. The Royston Club - Shaking Hips and Crashing Cars

    2. Andrew Cushin - Waiting For the Rain

    3. The Lottery Winners - A.R.T.

    4. The Lathums - From Nothing to a Little Bit More

    5. Creeper - Sanguivore

    6. QOTSA - In Times New Roman

    7. Blur - The Ballad of Darren

    8. NGHFB - Council Skies

    9. The Coral - Sea of Mirrors

    10. The Murder Capital - Gigi’s Recovery

  4. Spent the past couple of days catching up on last weeks releases.

King Nuns latest is excellent. Andrew Cushins (supported NGHFB last year) debut also sounding really good. Also repeatedly had the debut from Heavy Lungs (if you like early IDLES you’ll like these) which has woken me up again this morning!

  5. Irrelevant of how many streams or sales an artist has had, if they show the amount of contempt and unprofessionalism to their fans and the festival as LDR showed this weekend, it is a non starter to debate whether she is suitable to headline the Pyramid. Unfortunately for her, there were another 3,000+ acts at Glastonbury as opposed to it being the LDR show. Her behaviour and attitude only goes to show they got it spot on putting her where they did.

I've only listened through once but can't help feel the same - the songs themselves aren't bad but it feels like a completely different band.

I'm at the other end if the spectrum (although appreciate I'm likely to be in the minority!) Loved the first album, didn't get on with Ants From Up There at all, but the new songs are a lot more instantly memorable for me. Although the vocals are completely different, still has the same BCNR style associated to them.

Well we are hoping for a better line up next year as we won't be going this year. Previous two years had a much stronger line up imo with something to appeal for everyone. I agree, nothing here really for the younger crowd hence why I think they may struggle to sell lots of tickets this year. For such a huge ticket increase in two years I was expecting this festival to grow and maybe become more of a well known festival (most people I know have never heard of this festival).

Agree with this. Feels like a huge drop off (certainly in terms of Common/Castle headliners) from the last couple of years. Don't get me wrong - there's some decent acts playing that I'd like to see, but not enough across the weekend to justify getting tickets. That along with the car parking (or lack of) hassle I think is going to make a lot of people think twice about going - especially those like me who would have brought young families. Really do think that the festival has dropped the ball this year, which is a shame as its always been the highlight of my festival season.

  8. So with the lack of an onsite car park this year, how easy do you think its going to be to park up somewhere? A case of rocking up on the day and hoping you get in the park and ride or can anywhere be pre booked? Can imagine it will be carnage trying to park thousands more cars in public car parks! Will be my 4th time at Victorious but I've always either parked onsite or got a hotel, but coming down with the kids this time so on my best behaviour!

  9. Assuming the other 2 headliners are shared, I’m putting my £1 on Kasabian and TDCC, but by choice Ashcroft would be top of my list by far. Just hope we find out a few more names soon!

    Victorious - Jamiraqoui, ? , ?

Tramlines - Richard Ashcroft, Courteeners, Heaton & Abbott

Truck - TDCC, Alt J, Royal Blood

Y Not - Royal Blood, Kasabian, Paul Weller

Victorious shared Sam Fender with Tramlines +
truck last yeah and Stereophonics with Y Not.

    So….. what we thinking

  10. Assuming he plays, I hope Ashcroft is on the Saturday or Sunday as I wont be there on Friday. That alone would pretty much justify my ticket for the day. Personal tastes of course but when I compare RA to JK there's no comparison. Kasabian don't excite me at all-seen them so many times and would much rather see someone that I either haven't seen at all or seen for a while. Two Door Cinema Club are very active this year - really wouldn't surprise me to see them headlining.

  11. 1. Suede - Autofiction

    2. Fontaines DC - Skinty Fia

    3. Frank Turner - FTHC

    4. The Wombats - Fix Yourself, Not The World

    5. October Drift - I Don't Belong Anywhere

Honourable mentions - Jamie T, Editors, Wet Leg, Embrace

Disappointment of the year - Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire

Track of the year - Jamie T - The Old Style Raiders

Gig of the year - Red Rum Club, Islington

I love it … you seeing them on Tour ? I’m seeing acoustic record store one tomorow and the cavern in Exeter … sales are strong for this tour despite financially challenging times and their Tik tock account has gone pretty viral last few days before album launch … I’ve predicted big things for these guys for a few years now and I can see some of the hard work they put in getting the deserved rewards … it’s been a while since they opened jp but I’d be suprised if they didn’t get some decent festival slots next year … and fingers crossed another Glastonbury

Yep, seeing them in St Albans - ticking off another new venue. Glad to hear sales are strong for the tour, they deserve their music to be heard by a lot more people!

Anyone listened to the new Album yet ? Just having its first play and it’s really strong

It's awesome, really strong throughout. Glad someone else has picked up on it! First album was great as well but they got unlucky with the time it was released, this should hopefully see them further up the bill at a lot of festivals next year.

Yes there is. Because the people who didnt get in within the first 10 mins are going to have to pay some extra money for not refreshing fast enough. Happens over here all the time. If they want the extra income so they can do more, then this might be a path. Like I said, changing the price between t day and resale might also be an option and surely there wont be a big drop off in who tries for tickets in march/april compared to oct. The diff is you see the poster and can judge the value of it on your own. We all know the festival is very underpriced so they might as well have the cost start to reflect that.

    What a bizarre take…
