Yes even on their Oxfam Facebook page going back  into their history there are people are not happy with that. What about if you have disability issues then

I have disabilities and need to sit down at times and I use a crutch. Oxfam couldn't have been more helpful, placing me in a safe space (Ped gate A inside the barriers) where I could carry out my job and really feel part of the team at the same time. I had to provide medical evidence, but I honestly felt so included and supported.

My supervisors were all helpful, checking in with me regularly.

I did sometimes feel bad that I always had some shade because of where I was placed while other volunteers were battling through in the sun, but definitely on my team the supervisors were excellent at rotating people regularly.

Do all of the volunteer positions require good physical health and endurance?  I'm thinking I would probably struggle to both do a shift and be at some performances on the same day.

You're on your feet for the best part of most shifts but you you get 2 days out of 5 free to explore.

My mindset is that I go to volunteer, and any sets I get to see is a bonus.

I got lucky with a ticket this year but will still try to get a place with Oxfam and return my ticket if I get lucky.

Shifts are a big part of the fun for me.

Just got my shifts through. Just in time for the lineup drop. 😁😁😁

And only one shift while the music’s on. 😁😁😁😁

    And that’s on a viewing platform 😁😁😁😁😁

Congratulations!! Sounds like a perfect rota!

  4. Those of you with several people trying...

What do you do when it comes to payment if a stranger is trying for you?

Trust them with your every last penny marked for Pilton or try & log in at the same time to see the payment page? Or get them to pay & pay them back?

    Dilemma!

I really am feeling a sense of despair. Constantly refreshing. I lost the proceed page earlier today and haven’t been able to get it back. I’m try to stay as positive as possible. But my god it’s hard. Can’t bare the thought of not being there.

I feel your pain. You're not alone xx

I keep refreshing in flashes throughout the day but haven't even seen Glastonbury become available to select, let alone get to the proceed page. Won't give up though! Trying every hour and half hour pretty much.

I think quite a few people are already on to the next page & refresh on the hour & half hour so they get straight through. With ApplePay payment is pretty much immediate.

I got on to the next page & like a dumba55 I clicked back instead of refresh so am back to 'select your Festival' drop down.

I've taken 4 days off work to dedicate myself to this... ended up in Pilton while my wing girl refreshed for me as I was driving.

Ate in The Crown & it was lush! The Pilton land is looking beautiful... if a little soggy!

  7. I've had a search and can't find an answer to this but apologies if it's already been answered:

Do you have to refresh page on the Oxfam site for new availability to show, or can you just toggle between the 'select your festival' and the drop down list of festivals available?

  8. I've been constantly refreshing every 10 seconds for an hour. A place became available but was 'sold out' by the time I'd clicked on the terms boxes.

What on earth are people using to not only 'proceed' but to add all payment details in less than 1 second?

    I could cry 🥺

Exactly right...might not work. But technically they've got an extra £340 of our money already. Worth asking the question

This might be taking the piss a bit, but if you don't ask you don't get. If anyone else has a duplicate they'd be willing to investigate moving into my name it be eternally grateful. 😉

I'm also interested. If anyone wants to earn cider tokens!

  10. Sold out already. Got through. Payment page said 'Sorry...' etc

Was in bang on 11am. Had payment all ready to paste if Google pay wasn't an option.

Can't believe it went in less than 10 seconds?

Someone said on Oxfam boards it was going to be mid morning. To me that means 9am but could equally mean 6am or 10:30am??🤥

    11am. Their page just updated.

  12. Anyone else already page refreshing?! I'd like to hope that it's an early one. I've even got the day off to be able to monitor 🤞❤️ Good luck everyone.

  13. Thanks for your answer! I'm registered with Oxfam, and would happily volunteer with them. They have been hugely helpful in the application process.

Just need a space to become available!

I have no experience with Greenpeace but I think you should try and get an Oxfam place - two less shifts and they are amazing at placing people with disabilities in suitable roles and giving lifts to your shift locations if you need it etc

  14. I've applied for Greenpeace volunteering (I know, 5 shifts, 8 hours, must be crazy!)

Has anyone else been through their volunteering application and has disabilities?

I ask because there was nowhere on the form for detailing what disability requirements I might have, apart from a selection of 6 different things. There was nowhere mentioning PAs nor medical need. Their FAQ section just says they are inclusive, but not what could / couldn't be accommodated.

I need a PA and have limitations on the time of day I would be able to work (I can do the amount time they need, just not late into the night) due to the medication I need to take.

I did mention briefly in the 'other' free writing box, but am left wondering if the lack of information is because they aren't too flexible?

I do have the accessibility volunteering application form so can go through them if need be.

I'd be interested to hear from any other Greenpeace specific disabled volunteers or anyone with insight.

How dare you ever enjoy a meal while there's a war in Syria? How dare you give a bad review to an album when there's somebody somewhere listening to Coldplay?

Context and perspective are your friends.

    That's ME!!!

    I'm listening to Coldplay :)

Chris Martin actually even stemmed the flow of my tears this morning and put a smile back on my face.

I sang really loud to Head Full of Dreams on my journey to work, and by the time I got here I had a massive smile on my face!! That's no mean feat considering I work in Emergency Services and times are hard out here!

What an amazing thing though, to light that little spark in a human and know it spread to a sunbeam shining from their face, all from the music you make.

Thank you Chris Martin, thank you Coldplay :)

Untrue apart from bogrolls.  Ive been known to let my heart rule my head when it comes to Glasto for which I apologise to everybody with my perhaps stupid and lack of grammar comments.  People are dying and yes it's only a festival.

So please once again accept my apologies.

Be safe everybody and let's hope 2021 will be one to remember

Don't apologise for expressing your feelings!

    I feel gutted too.

'Just a festival' doesn't cut it with me. For many reasons, it has become a huge thing for me.

For others, it is bigger still, and their MH is affected by the event.

In solidarity with you, and not ashamed that I had a little cry!

Let's be kind, people. You never know what people are coping with from day to day, on top of this bastard virus x

Yeah you would have thought they would have kept it to themselves and allow the festival to make the difficult announcement.

I guess they wouldst have known it would be everywhere already.

I guess we are no better either, but that is the world we live in i guess.

Maybe GFL wanted people to know, but weren't allowed to make the announcement officially before a few other things occur (staff officially informed for one!)

Perhaps this was a cunning way around it?
