    Hi all,

just wanting some re-assurance that The Strokes won’t be playing - I love them & TRNSMT so much but have already booked All Points East and I’m not so sure that I can afford this as well if they’re on haha!

    cheers!

Yeah they’re abroad on the weekend (Spain I think) so there’s no chance they’re playing, headliners are almost confirmed anyway and the strokes aren’t one sadly

This is more a hope than anything else but Gang of Youths on a good looking day would be delightful.

I saw them there last year, they were pretty good tbh and I’d be happy to have them back this year, they were full of energy and got a good crowd at King Tut’s

do they ever release the survey results?

Would be interesting to see how high up the list stormy, ezra and catfish were

I’d imagine Catfish would have a fairly high place on the list, a lot of people do want them this year, Stormzy and Ezra would definitely be quite low down though. Apparently Drake was on the survey and got a lot of votes.

I think with a decent undercard, I could get on board with a day ticket to pretty much any of the days. Especially the one with Snow Patrol on it. They'll be good for a drunken singalong for over an hour.

I’d be happy for snow patrol to be honest, I can understand why people wouldn’t want them there but really there’s not much choice in terms of artists this year and I’d be happy to see them and sing along to chasing cars for a night. It does make me think that they could do with two headliners on a night cause not everyone’s going to fancy George Ezra or the like, if they had another stage with maybe a more alternative band (not talking like king tuts, an actual other stage) they could probably make more people happy. Would be more expensive though I suppose

It probably means that we're not going to find the king tuts acts.

What I’m afraid of is they’ll hold back popular headliners and then put them on the worst selling day, they did it with Gerry last year, so they might do it with him and other big acts, I hope they don’t do that because I want to know exactly what I’ll be getting from the main stage before I buy tickets

  6. Geoff Ellis, TRNSMT Festival Director, said: “TRNSMT has had an amazing audience who have played a huge part in making the festival one of the most popular events on the music calendar in just two years. That’s why we’ve decided to place the line-up announcement into their hands for the first time. We can’t wait for them to reveal the first set of artists.”

Found this statement on Glasgow live, when he says first set of artists does that mean we’re not even getting the full lineup when it’s announced?

  7. Actual fucking joke man, they’re announcing the presale before the lineup. Why aren’t they just announcing it. This is such a pisstake, they have the lineup, why don’t they just give us it now. Everyone pretty much knows it’s going to be a mediocre lineup, I don’t know what they’re doing. At least we know the lineup will be revealed before Monday. Unless they expect us to buy tickets without knowing it, at this point I wouldn’t be surprised

Friday - Mumford & Sons / Bastille / Manic Street Preachers / Tom Odell / Sigrid / Tom Walker / Pale Waves • King Tuts - YUNGBLUD / slowthai / Cate Le Bon / The Ninth Wave

Saturday - Catfish & The Bottlemen / Gerry Cinnamon / The Vaccines / Bugzy Malone / Sundara Karma / Sam Fender / Dave / The Snuts • King Tuts - Sunflower Bean / Jade Bird / FONTAINES D.C. / The Blinders / Ten Tonnes / Ocean Wisdom / Rascalton / The Dunts / Catherine McGrath

Sunday - George Ezra / Snow Patrol (special guests) / Keane / The Wombats / DMA’S / Lewis Capaldi / IDLES / Nina Nesbitt • King Tuts - The Twilight Sad / Blaenavon / Yungen / Baby Strange / Boy Azooga / Retro Video Club / PLANET / Saint Agnes / KAWALA

That would actually be alright, I’d definitely go for Saturday/Sunday if that was the lineup

Public Enemy would be an extraordinary booking, but their Gods of Rap thing at the Hydro probably rules them out.

Is anybody going to that gig by the way? I’m thinking if I’m not going for the full trnsmt weekend I’ll get myself a ticket, love a bit of Wu Tang Clan

    No announcement again. 10am? 5pm?

I’m assuming at least some point this morning, if the Vistas announcement is anything to go off. Fuck knows at this point, if we’re assuming the general sale will be a Friday and it’s getting announced this week it has to be today.

3rd down, subby at a push, but I just don't see how he can headline festivals? He has one album, no universal hits, especially for the TRNSMT demographic, and he isn't popular at all in the West of Scotland.

Yeah he has to be, I don’t know anybody who actually listens to him on such a scale that they’d know his songs, it’s not exactly going to be some great ending to a night if the best we can sing along to is big for your boots

  12. Nothing can really beat the lineup from last year, Arctic Monkeys had some crowd, people say it was the best show they’d ever did. LG had a perfect undercard for his audience on that day, never saw anything of Queen but everyone I’d seen said they were fantastic. Stereophonic aren’t really my thing but they put on a good show from what I saw. I was there on The Killers day though and they were incredible. Realistically, there’s no way they could top that lineup with Stormzy, Ezra and Catfish.

previous years it’s always usually 5pm they announced headliners etc, T was the same so here’s hoping.. notifications on and ready

Half an hour to go then, fingers crossed the lineup is half decent, I’d be happy if we had one good day. To be fair on them there’s not that many great acts touring to headline, and Summer Sessions has snatched up the best ones.

probably 5pm if announced today i’m thinking?

I’d say 5-7 pm would be prime announcement times, I’m no getting my hopes up though, I would’ve thought they’d given some indication on the announcement times. But maybe it will be tonight. Hard to really tell considering we’ve barely any info to go off.

I'm sorry I just don't buy The Strokes playing their first Scottish show in close to a decade would sell so little (aren't Catfish basically a poor mans Strokes?) but I guess there's just no way of knowing for sure until they play here, I'm not sure if its true but I heard they're doing an arena tour later this year.

Being someone who likes both Catfish and The Strokes (although I do prefer The Strokes), I can almost certainly say Catfish would sell better. While I love The Strokes, they just don’t dominate the scene like they used to, and Catfish are way more relevant to the youth these days. The energy at their shows are always great as well, which is a big draw. I think they’re also more widely accessible. While I am quite gutted that The Strokes won’t be there, Catfish can still put on a good show and plenty of people would be happy to see them headline. Catfish also have no Scottish dates, implying they’re saving trnsmt as their Scotland show. I’d say the odds are more likely The Strokes will do an arena tour, which I’m hoping for, although it may be that APE is the only UK show they have this year.
