Anyone got any thoughts on who will be on the undercard on this? I'm assuming there'll be bands further down the lineup who'll be doing all of the festivals. I think The Snuts will get a decent King Tuts spot. I reckon Tom Walker will be on the lineup somewhere but can't really place anyone else.

Snuts will be on main stage, way too big for king tuts. They must’ve had 10-15k at least, 2nd up this year and they have an album coming out next year.

First time at Kendal .defo my last . Poor Festival management. Ridiculous prices £13 for a pizza. ffs doesn't even cost that in a restaurant...and worst I've been to for obnoxious arseholes.  And there was plenty of them ....

And either make Drainage or spend money putting tracks down .?

Security should have put a stop to the mud wrestling at Tom Jones ...clowns kept throwing mud into the crowd..was right in front of mixing desk so its not as if they didn't see it.

Severe lack of seating areas at

    Food stalls.

I could Go on all day but point is....  festival is piss poor ..in fact ...worst I've been to ...in 30 years of going to festivals.

Make drainage? Did you see the amount of rain on Saturday get a grip mate. There was plenty of food options for about £8 which is average for a festival. Clearly haven’t been to T or Leeds if you think that’s a lot of obnoxious arseholes

Not really a fair comparison Mattie.

In the early 80s, you could pretty much count UK festivals on one hand and deffo two hands.

It hasnt always been like that at all and it isn't "like that" now at loads of other festival's. Beautiful Days, Green Man, BT as mentioned earlier are just a few examples.

Some festivals garner a reputation for obnoxious behaviour from, and I say with caution, kid's / teens primarily who go there to act how the fuck they like with little care given to how that impacts on other festival goers. Leeds festival for example and V in it's latter dying years. It just looks alarmingly like Kendal is heading the same way.

I don't think this is a good thing. The idea of the festival community is a gathering of people from all ages and backgrounds enjoying some ales and watching bands and at the same time, respecting one another. That respect was in pretty short supply last weekend. For the record, we got barged out of the way by endless chain's of young lads but didn't get barged at all by groups of lashed up 40 something's.

It's s shame if Kendal Calling keeps creeping this way and develops even more of a reputation where groups can go and act like bell ends for 5 day's at the detriment of other festival attendees.

Your pals who had the time of their lives, why didn't they just go camp somewhere with a load of ale / narcs and save quite a few Bob?

It is hard reconcile sometimes that what passed as entertainment for me at 17 was chasing away fans around the streets of Old Trafford and Hulme. And then being chased the following Saturday around Plaistow / Fulham Broadway/ Birmingham / wherever. Thank goodness for LSD and the Hacienda, Konspiracy and the Thunderdome...

Kids today hey... If they only knew what we used to have to do have fun!

So you’re trying to tell me that you went chasing away fans around old Trafford yet went to festivals and didn’t act like an arsehole? Hard to believe. I get that a lot of them are dickheads and don’t have respect but at the same time the a lot of them do.

Think people should be focusing on the parents walking about with their kids out their trolley gurning tbh.

And as for my pals, pretty much the same reason you don’t stay at home and watch recordings of Glastonbury etc. It’s about the atmosphere. End of the day it’s their money and don’t think anyone else should care.

All in all I agree with you that some kids are arseholes but like I’ve said I find it a bit hypocritical

  4. It does tend to be younger people I agree but at the end of the day it’s always been like that and I just get the feeling that the majority of the people complaining, were once that age and out their tits at festivals and are just choosing to forget that.

I agree that some of them aren’t there for the music and it can be annoying but at the end of the day they’ve paid for it and can sit and talk through a gig all they want for I care. Some of my pals only left campsite 2/3 times and had best weekend of their lives.

  5. Love it how you everyone complains about young people being drunk and being dicks. When I’m reality there’s just as many older knobheads. Fact is that in the 70’s 80’s it was just as bad and everyone was on more than they are now. It’s just everyone else has aged and loves to have a moan

    Headliner wise...

Orbital were good in my view but didn't seem to quite get the crowd bouncing.

    Nile Rodgers just fab.

Doves were the absolute highlight, utterly brilliant just a pity that the crowd was a 1/10th of what it could have been with the rain.

Courteeners were very dull, arguably the worst Sunday act I have seen at Kendal. Last 15 minutes they kicked it up a notch but otherwise completely flat and it was noticeable that there was a nasty edge to the whole festival this year which i think that booking played a significant part in.

I didn't know who Years and Years were but they were excellent. Gomez were a let down. Pigeon detectives played a great set also and the Cuban Brothers have the distinction of being the only group were the lead singers bollox had their own chorus.

I enjoyed myself again, as always was nice to meet up with a few of you on here for a few beers again too.

Belinda cuming for the 15th anniversary???

I thought courteeners were excellent and same with most people I talked to

Blutopia is a bar/dance stage that was at TRNSMT. It did an 80s/90s rave and it was gooooooood.

One of the highlights for me was incredible, fuck all wee bams there aswell made it much better

Exactly this, Radiohead and Queen didn't work at TRNSMT based on their crowds vs the other acts, so they are just adapting. George Ezra also isn't at all out of place - at the end of the day he's basically just doing the same thing Gerry Cinnamon is; in concept he is a single person with a guitar. I think they are doing a great job and when compared to sales at other festivals across the UK, in a region with fewer people like Glasgow/Scotland altogether I think they are doing a good job. Also the undercards are absolutely stacked - 5th down Wombats when they are playing 3rd down at Reading is impressive and like Kooks who are 4th down are headlining festivals like Community. Not many festivals have 5th done arena bands. Pretty crazy how DMA's and Wombats are both playing 5th down really.

Tbh the saturday lineup is filled with some of the most popular bands around. Catfish, dma’s, RA. And then bands that are gathering a lot of momentum like the snuts and the dunts. Aswell as Sam fender . The Sunday undercard is decent in comparison to Leeds but can’t see many people at main stage after 4pm. The Friday isn’t for me however, stormzy is one of the biggest artists in the uk, Gerry is one of the hottest in Scotland. And others like anime/aj Tracey are also pretty big.

Think people rightly said the headliners were weak, but there really wasn’t much else about and people overreacted.

It was sold initially as a non camping, no EDM festival for more mature festival goers. Presumably to shake the negative feeing that had caused the failure of TITP with the fights and drug deaths. I doubt they'd have got a licence if they had just said we're bringing T to Glasgow with no camping. It's going that way though it seems. Calvin Harris to headline next year? Actually, he's probably a bit past it for the audience now :)

The way I see it is, this is more for younger audience 16-25 year old. Whereas the ss bookings- the cure etc are aimed at an older audience. I’m sure they could’ve had the cure on a day with Gerry cinnamon and dma’s but then you’d have people complaining about wee bams ruining it for you.

Tickets on sale and not one mention on here of anyone getting them like you used to get in previous years.

They've fecked it with that line up, it's so bad it could get a festival cancelled permanently.

It won’t though cos it will sell pretty well particularly the Saturday

Do you know what boils my piss this is meant to be Scotland’s top festival and this is what they’ve come up with.

We need a titp sized festival that caters for all music genres it’s that simple.

As has been said, T isn’t happening and has been replaced. Get over it. Although this announcement is disappointing, they have catered for every type of music through this and the many summer sessions gigs. There really aren’t many other options this summer pal

As I've said, I still think it'll sell well enough in the end

Thanks for the enjoyment here and being good sports, sure you all understand now that I couldn't just give it away, but I did try :cheese:

Can you explain what you were saying the other day?
